How Did You Get Started?

I got started a lot differently from other people. Most people just want to get big because they’re skinny or want to get bigger for Football. I started this wonderful hobby after being hospitalized for Anorexia in the months of December 2002- January 2003. I decided it was time to take over my life. It was A LOT of work and I had my "ups and downs", but managed to squeeze through. Once I started getting gains and my lifts went up, I was hooked! My eating habits were awful at first but after seeing big gains (I was less than 130 lbs coming out of hospital), I knew that I should do some research (mostly Bodybuilding.com) and figure out exactly what I should do.

The days sometimes vary if I have to work on a certain day.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

It took a few months out of the hospital to finally start eating "normally". I was still scared of food but then slowly started eating normally. I eat roughly 3500 calories daily spread through 6 - 7 meals a day. I eat lots and lots of tuna, shrimp, chicken breasts (not the cheapest), oatmeal, sweet potatoes, cottage cheese (lots of it), brown rice, dark rye, steak, nuts, Peanut Butter, Flax oil etc. I love food; I have learned to make it my friend. I have become an expert in the kitchen, and I would honestly love to become a Chef one day, even though I'm going into Engineering next year.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I would say that I mostly depend on food. Creatine never really worked for me; however I have used a lot of Whey Protein. I tend to stick with the same brand that tastes great and has a good profile, Optimum Nutrition. I tried MRM, Prolab, Dymatize Whey and other brands and all were similar in taste and profile. I like to switch up companies once in a while. I take 5 grams of Glutamine before bed every night. I also take Melatonin before bed, this stuff is giving me great sleep. I plan on trying some ZMA soon.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

Because it saved me! Bodybuilding has honestly helped me get out of this disease that so many people suffer from. It is so hard to get out of, but its possible to succeed. I love the thrill of finally doing a weight at the gym that you were striving for. Its also fun meeting old friends that remember you skinny and can't recognize you because of how much you have changed.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

If I can bulk up a little more and cut down nicely, I may try a competition. That would be the funniest thing, a former Anorexic winning a bodybuilding competition.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Never, EVER give up! If at first you don't get anywhere, approach the problem from a different angle. And for all those suffering from an eating disorder, never never never give up, it’s not worth wasting your life.

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

I love Arnold because of his perfect physique. I also really enjoy watching Ronnie Coleman, especially in his video, "The Unbelievable". I use his phrase in the gym now, "Light Weight!".
