How Did You Get Started?

When I was 14, my dad went out and bought me my first batch of supplements: protein, creatine, and multi-vitamins. I was all excited and he would help me train in my basement with my home equipment and I would spend hours training down there. Then I decided on signing up at a gym on my 15th birthday after watching tons and tons of videos of Ronnie Coleman.

My strength was blowing through the roof and by the age of 17 I was benching 315 lbs for 8 reps. I went to see a bodybuilding show, National Capital Classic, and saw my future trainer/training partner Rob Graham competing, and that is where I decided that I was going to compete the following year.

So I started talking to Rob and we hit it off and he took me under his wing and we spent the entire year preparing for the Ottawa Bodybuilding Championships, where I placed 2nd. I currently signed with IFBB Pro and contest guru Fakhri Mubarak and along with Rob Graham; I am heading towards Ontario Provincial Championships in the year 2012.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

Every week my workouts change because your body will get used to the same workouts and you will stop stimulating your muscle tissue which is kind of the concept of why I use drop sets and supersets here and there but if you use them all the time, they stop working. I found that using rep range of 8-12 works the best for me but I always try to hit minimum of 10. I go as heavy as I can with good form.

My reasoning for my rep range of 10-12 is that lower reps do work somewhat for muscle mass, but in the long run your joints will be aching. A rep range of 10-12 will give your muscle more stimulation than a lower rep range as long as you pick a good heavy weight that you can do that range with. I do not do cardio because my metabolism is already too fast and I do abs every other day (basic crunches). I have 2 off days a week and 5 days in the gym and always do a big muscle group with a small muscle group.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love bodybuilding because it makes me work hard and it gives me a sense of accomplishment like no other thing in the world. When you complete a great workout, the feeling it gives you is like no other. I love the feeling of knowing every time I am in the gym I am growing and getting closer to that IFBB Pro Card. Bodybuilding is the greatest and hardest sport out there, but the results are worth it in the end.

What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?

One very simple thing: Bodybuilding.

What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?

My friends, family, and trainers who keep pushing me towards achieving my goal and that is an IFBB Pro Card; it is my #1 motivator for achieving my bodybuilding goals.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I will be taking 2011 off to add more muscle mass onto my frame and work with my trainer/training partner Rob Graham and my Contest Prep Coach and IFBB Pro Fakhri Mubarak to bring up my weakness. I will be competing in June 2012 in the Ontario Provincial Championships and depending on how I look I may do the Canadian National Championships in 2012 also 8 weeks following the provincials.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

One tip I would give is keep working at it. It is not an overnight thing. People expect to hit the gym for a month and expect results; this sport takes time and patience. Eat right, supplement right and train right and you will achieve the goals that you want! Eat quality calories and set a workout regiment, be organized. Also, find someone who can help you and work with them!

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

Branch Warren, Evan Centopani, Frank McGrath, Phil Heath, Ben Pakulski, Fakhri Mubarak, Ronnie Coleman, Jamie Eason, Trish Warren, and Ava Cowan.
