How Did You Get Started?
Well, it's a long story. You see, I was in football in 7th grade, but I was soooo small, only 70lbs! And yet, I had so much heart and I'd always make sure to push myself harder than anyone else during conditioning, But unfortunately I still sucked. Anyways, I didn't play football in 8th grade, instead I started lifting some weights, and I got quite a bit bigger. But, more than anything, I had speed and jukes down great. So I went back into football in 9th grade and I was doing great! I was burning people and scoring touchdowns! It was only practice, but I was being put in all the time, and being cheered for by the team. It was great! But, one thing I didn't know how to do was hit. I think I was so scared of hitting because I had been cracked so much when I was in 7th grade. Although, I was learning and things were looking very promising for me.
And then something terrible happened. Our head coach got fired for something illegal, when he never even did anything wrong. Then we got a new head coach, one week before our first game, and we had a scrimmage to play. In 2 plays I was already out. After that, I was the only person in the whole football team who never got to play even at least 1 measly play during the whole season. I don't know what happened. But, this totally crushed my spirit.
After being a rag doll in 7th grade, and then coming back in 9th grade as an all-star, I thought for sure things would've been great. But instead, it ended up being just like seventh grade all over again. So I quit about a month before the season finished. It was too much for me to handle. But, I'm glad I did. I started spending much more time lifting weights and eating big. Then, I picked up Flex magazine, and I told myself, "That's the sport for me."
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
I do Monday-Saturday on and Sunday off. But I keep my body parts very separated. Usually only two body parts will be focused on in one workout. This gives them all the proper rest they need to grow.
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
I make sure to eat at least every 3 hours. I feel my metabolism is somewhat fast so I probably get a little more calories then I should. But, I don't mind because I can burn fat and sugar really well. I get about 2800 calories on a workout day, and about 2500 on Sunday. I get anywhere from 150- 210 grams of protein, about 400 grams of carbs, and about 20-40 grams of fat.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
I have tried many different supplements in search of the most perfect one. So, I have used Mega Isolate most often, because it not only gives a high quality type of protein, but it also has a great blend of vitamins and minerals that help you live healthier, energize during workouts, and help increase gains. Although, now I'm starting to use Myoplex because it's very similar to Mega Isolate but it also has Boron in it, which I haven't seen in other supplements, and Boron has been shown in studies to increase testosterone levels.
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I don't know. There's just something about building myself as big and muscular as I can get that I find enjoyable. It's especially cool seeing people in shock when they see me flex. So many people think it's conceited and vain, but I don't think so. I think there's something more to the sport than just showing off.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
Well, I'm still somewhat small for a bodybuilder, and I realize that. So first I'm going to spend a couple years perfecting my symmetry the best I can. After that, I should have a really good foundation to build on so I'm going to spend about 4 years really stressing on increasing in size. Then after that I want to spend 1 more year carving out some more definition. Unless something changes my mind, I want to make sure I'm good and ready before I start competing. I want to begin with a good start.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
I have a great tip to give other bodybuilders. You need to work on your weak points. My chest is not my best point, and yet I chose it as my favorite body part. The reason is because, whichever body part of mine is lagging compared to the others, it always becomes my favorite. I have to spend extra time taking care of it and figuring out how to make it catch up, grow, and become more even with my body.
Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?
My favorite bodybuilders may not be people you have heard of. They are not even pro. One is Richard Sandrak because he's really well rounded and better at more than just bodybuilding. He also started working out around 3 years old, and I admire that. My other favorite is a guy at my school named Andrew Pancotti. I knew him in 8th grade and he was HUGE. He made me want to train harder and become big myself. And although right now he's playing football in high school, I think he'd make a great bodybuilder.
