How Did You Get Started?
I started when I joined my college's track team because I was in need of more strength and power for my events. I am a decathlete so I cover the whole spectrum of track and field events, from the shot-put to the 1500 meters.
I am not an overly big guy so lifting weights has given me a chance at competing with some of the bigger competition in such events as the shot-put where extra mass really helps.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
I try to lift my entire body 3 times a week in addition to doing a lot of interval training and plyometrics. My weight lifting program covers everything from squats, power cleans, bench press (with either a bar or dumbbells), incline press, snatches, bicep curls and pull-ups each time I work out.
I know most people lift certain body parts on specific days but this schedule works out really well for me... most other people don't do 10 track and field events 6 days a week either. On this program I have gained almost 20 pounds in the last year and a half (I told you I was scrawny when I started).
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
Eating all the time!
I pretty much have the metabolism of an 8 year old boy so everything that I put into my body seems to just come right out again. So for me, eating 5-6 meals a day has been the key. I try to stay away from unhealthy foods like pizza or hamburgers but pretty much everything else is fair game for me. I run enough that my body fat stays real low anyways.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
Definitely the greatest gain I have had was with a mix of protein and Kre-Alkaline. After only a few weeks of this workout I have gained a few pounds (any weight gain is good for me) and feel stronger than ever.
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I love body building because I like to see how my hard work pays off in the gym, on the track, and the overall health of my body. Also, lifting weights makes me less prone to pulling a muscle or even worse--tearing one.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
I plan to start a hard regiment of lifting and to start taking more supplements in an effort to gain more lean muscle mass and gain another 15-20 pounds while keeping my body fat real low.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
Always push yourself or you'll never know what you can achieve.
Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?
Arnold Schwarzenegger, he is my governor!
