How Did You Get Started?
I have the usual story of the young athlete growing up playing every sport then picking up my first weight at 11 and first flex magazine at 12 and the rest is history I got bit by the bug real early and it's grown and grown into me striving to become one of the best one day!
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
Training every body part 2 times a week. I have been taught since I am still young I am able to recovery very quickly thus allowing me to hit every body part 2 times a week as long as I am eating exactly how I should and getting the proper amount of rest.
I am a high volume trainer; I do a lot of sets and move pretty quickly. For example my split for the last year has been set up something like this (being 4 weeks after the 2008 NPC Teen Nationals it is a bit different):
- Monday: Chest and Biceps
- Tuesday: Back and Triceps
- Wednesday: AM Quads and Hams PM Delts
- Thursday: Off (rest)
- Friday: Chest and Biceps
- Saturday: Back and Triceps
- Sunday: Off
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
I have always put a ton of attention and focus on my nutrition as I feel it's at least 80% in always improving in this sport. I love researching and reading up on different methods of nutrition from all the best nutritionist in the world not only involved in bodybuilding but other sports as well.
My nutrition basically is a master plan; every detail is etched out and serves a purpose throughout the day. My day revolves around my meals basically , I am eating at the same times and the same meals day in and day out depending on if it's pre-contest or off-season my protein , carbs and healthy fats fluctuate of course.
And during my off-season I do allow myself to have 1 or 2 cheat foods a week as long as I have eaten clean 95% of the week. During pre-contest or 30-35 weeks out from a show I will not cheat at all until the show and all of the photo shoots are over this just gives me a mental edge I feel. The foods I am currently using (off-season) are:
- Egg Whites
- Chicken Breast
- London broil
- Ezekiel Bread
- White Basmati Rice
- Mixed Green Salads
- Fish Oils
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Almond Butter
So as you can see not a huge variety but I like to keep things simple and not guess what my next meal is I know exactly what to do and when to do it and it works for me!
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
Being a part of Team Muscletech I am very blessed to be supplied the best supplements on the market helping me to become a great teen bodybuilder. Supplements don't do everything but with proper nutrition, training, rest and knowledge they can absolutely help give you that edge.
My favorites are:
- Anabolic Halo
- NaNO Vapor
- And of course hydroxycut hardcore helped me get shredded for the 2008 Teen Nationals!
Then of course your basics Glutamine and BCAA's, L-Leucine, EFA's (Omega 3 Fish Oils are my favorite) a good multi-vitamin and anti-oxidants to help with the free radicals and keep my immune system up and running.
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I love setting goals and achieving them to me this is one of the greatest things in life. Seeing your body change constantly due to the hard work you put in day in and day out and reaping the rewards onstage. Pushing your body and mind to new limits and always going above and beyond the norm to get there!
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
My future plans are to try and become the best I can be in this sport, and achieve my professional status in the IFBB. And one day becoming one of the best in the sport.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
I would tell them that it takes a lot of patience and not to rush things. Enjoy the journey that bodybuilding is. Also that I believe its more of a mental toughness to be had than physical, so always make sure you have the right positive mind set. Never give up on your dreams and of course TRAIN TO WIN!
Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?
Jay Cutler. He is like a big brother to me. Teaching me all the in's and out's of this sport and also all the business aspects involved in it. He's a working and thinking man's bodybuilder and a great person all around!
