Our Teen Bodybuilder of the Week was...
How Did You Get Started?
I was first interested in lifting weights when my older brother started. He began lifting weights and started getting bigger and stronger. When I saw how he looked I made the decision to start. I was tired of being skinny and I wanted to gain some muscle mass. I followed his workout routine and made progress. When I saw the results I kept lifting.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
The workout plan I have followed since I started has been basically unchanged. For all exercises I would perform 3 sets with 8 reps each. This workout plan has helped me gain results I am content with.
Sample Workout Routine:
I do the same routine for Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Bench Press: 4 sets - 8, 8, 6, 6
I end every workout with 70 pushups: 2 sets - 40,30
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
I have always eaten healthy. When I started getting really serious about lifting I knew that I needed a lot of protein in my diet. For breakfast, I eat oatmeal or healthy cereal. For lunch I eat 2 cans of tuna, a piece of fruit, and a 16 oz. glass of milk. For dinner, I eat what my mom cooks, which is always a well balanced healthy meal along with a 16 oz. glass of milk. For snacks I also eat cereal or fruit. Also, I try to stay away from junk food as much as possible. Water or milk is all I drink. I think this nutrition has worked for me and gave me great results.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
When I first started lifting I just took whey protein. I think the protein plus my hard work helped me gain about ten pounds of muscle over a couple of years. I was happy with the gains I had made. About a year later I took creatine monohydrate. This supplement was really amazing. It gave me a lot of energy and endurance. My strength was at its peak and after a couple of cycles I had gained ten pounds of muscle. Another supplement I am currently taking is Myozene. I have gained some strength and about five pounds of muscle. I think that without these supplements I could not have made those gains that quick.
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I love bodybuilding because I like to stay in shape and I like the results that come from it. I like to see my muscles change under intense training. The feeling I get after a hard workout in the gym is incomparable to anything else. It is a feeling of accomplishment.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
I will continue to lift weights until I reach my goal, which is getting bigger. I do not want to compete professionally. However, I might consider entering in an amateur competition. I'm not really sure.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
The key to bodybuilding is staying with it and working hard.
