Teen Bodybuilder of the Week: Aaron Collier

Teen Bodybuilder of the Week: Aaron Collier! - Pics and info and more!

How Did You Get Started?

I first started working out in a church basement when I was around 14. I got started because I was going to play football in high school but I only weighed about 90 pounds. By the time the season rolled around I was still the smallest on the team at 135 but I was already the strongest at my position. From then on I took it a little more seriously working out with my dad who also competed when he was younger in Florida.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I try to keep my workouts intense, lifting heavy weight on the main exercises like squats, deadlifts, bench press, and military press. The rest of my workouts I try and play by ear but I like to get in at least 3 exercises per body part with at least 3-6 sets on each exercise. I try to workout at least 5-6 times a week but I throw in a day of rest here and there if I feel like I need to.

My routine looks something like this:

TERMS YOU'LL NEED TO KNOW
Failure - That point in an exercise at which you have so fully fatigued your working muscles that they can no longer complete an additional rep.
Superset - Alternating back and forth between two exercises until the prescribed number of sets is complete.

Day 1 Legs

Day 2 Calves And Chest

Day 3 Back And Biceps

Day 4 Shoulders And Triceps

I throw in an extra day of calves every now and then but I don't really ever do abs until pre-contest and then hanging leg raises are my bread and butter.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

Offseason I pound down everything I can regardless of what it is, as long as I eat about every 3 hours, and I manage to stay fairly lean. Pre-contest is a little different. My carbs consist of Oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and steamed green beans. Other than that it's baked chicken and bags of tilapia with maybe some red meat every now and then. I try to have at least 3 protein shakes a day at morning, post workout, and bed time.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love bodybuilding because it isn't just a sport or hobby, it is a lifestyle. It is something that most people can't understand, and don't want to. It has given me something to be proud of, something tangible that I can see everyday when I wake up.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I would love to compete again. I am not sure when exactly but I want to have achieved my goal of 19" arms or weigh about 235 before I compete again. Hopefully this will happen within the next year.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Be consistent. Eat, eat, eat, and eat. Pound down food like its going out of style then train in the gym until you throw up or can't move and eat some more when you get home.
