The story of Misty Mate began in 1987 when our company president, Steve Utter, had been working on the development of a personal cooling device for the employees of his then, successful landscaping company. After many hours in his garage, Steve developed the prototype of the original Misty Mate Mister. He then asked his employees to use it while working in the searing summer heat of Arizona. Not to his surprise, they loved it! The productivity of the employees increased and with it so did the company's profitability. Thus, the seeds of invention began to show promise.
News spread quickly across the Southwest and with it came the incredible interest in this revolutionary personal cooling product. Steve was faced with no choice but to pursue the development of the Misty Mate full time and the company was incorporated in 1989. He has never looked back since.
Misty Mate now manufactures a complete line of personal cooling products and misters for a wide variety of consumer applications. In 1994, the Misty Mate Pump was introduced to the marketplace with outstanding results. The ease of use and "fill", "pump" and "mist" design has resulted in millions of misting units sold. The unique design of the Misty Mate Pump has resulted in four U.S. Patents. The product is sold in different sizes and designs to a wide variety of retailers worldwide. The product has performed so well that the U.S. Olympic Team used it during the 1996 Games in the heat and humidity of Atlanta. In 1998, a unique sponsorship program was entered into with the NFL's Arizona Cardinal Football Organization. Misting fans are used by the players for cool relief during the games and to prevent overheating and or heat stroke. Other ventures are being explored with organizations including NASCAR, MLS Soccer, and Major League Baseball.
In 1997, Misty Mate was recognized and honored by Inc. Magazine as one of the nation's leading entrepreneurial companies. In 1998, the company experienced record revenue growth for the ninth consecutive year. In 1999, the company introduced the concept of the HydraMistPak a complete personal hydration system, combining a daypack and personal, portable air cooler all in one.
As the new millennium approached, it was a company objective to develop the most effective personal cooling system ever. Introduced in 2000, the Arctic Blast was created as a high performance personal cooling system. The Arctic Blast combines high velocity air movement with mist to create an incredible cooling effect. This compact system could be the most effective personal cooling device ever invented.
As we move forward in the new century, Misty Mate continues the evolution of a complete line of cooling and misting products designed to make life more enjoyable. Misty Mate products are marketed worldwide providing innovative yet simple personal cooling solutions in a world faced with some very recent and severe heatwaves. We will continue to be on the cutting edge of design and invention as this is our constant challenge.
