The control of lipids in the bloodstream is extremely important in regard to prevention of premature cardiovascular disease. Certain people are prone to high cholesterol and lipid levels through positive family history, while others have lipid problems secondary to environmental and lifestyle issues such as poor diet, and lack of exercise. This comprehensive panel includes Total Cholesterol, Triglyceride level, High Density Lipoprotein (HDL), Calculated Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), Calculated Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL), and calculated LDL/HDL ratio. This is the most commonly ordered cardiac related lab test. LDL is thought of as 'bad' cholesterol, while HDL is thought of as 'good cholesterol.' Patients must fast at least 8 hours prior to this test.
Ordering Process
- Decide which test(s) you would like to order. Order the test online using our secure, encrypted server.
- You will then receive an email asking you to go to a secure website to finalize your order, and choose a lab location. If you do not choose a lab location, one will be assigned to the lab closest to your address.
- Your lab requisition(s) will be faxed to the designated lab.
- You will then receive an email, informing you that the lab has your test(s) order. You will also receive directions and a map to the lab from your location via email.
- On the day your tests are scheduled present to the lab, and have your tests done. You are now finished with your part.
- You will receive a second email when your lab(s) are complete. You can then log back onto MedLabUSA using your secure username and password (that you chose during your order confirmation) to view/print your results. The entire process should only take 2-3 days. We have the quickest turnaround time of any online medical laboratory service.
