BCAA AKG is a precise formulation of the Branched Chain Amino Acids, L-Leucine, L-Valine, and L-Isoleucine bonded to AKG. This AKG bond dramatically enhances the absorption of the BCAA's where they are absorbed intact.*
Branched-chained amino acids are an integral part of any supplement program. But what makes BCAAs so important? BCAA is a term that refers to 3 essential (meaning the human body cannot manufacture these amino acids internally so you must obtain them through your diet) amino acids; leucine, valine and isoleucine. These three amino acids make up 1/3 of human skeletal muscle tissue. When you lift weights in the gym, essentially you are making micro-tears in your muscle fibers. Your body requires amino acids to repair those damaged muscle fibers so they become stronger and adapt to the stress you are putting them through each week. Because the three BCAAs make up over 33% of your muscle tissue, it only makes sense to supplement these key amino acids to enhance and stimulate muscle repair. Let's use an analogy. The outside of your house is made of brick and mortar, and someone has just driven their car into the side of your house. You need to repair the damaged portion of your house, which means you need to buy enough brick and mortar to put the damaged wall back together. Since the majority of the side of your house is made of brick, you would purchase a much higher ratio of brick than you would mortar. You wouldn't buy equal parts mortar to brick, because then you would have a whole lot of excess mortar and not enough brick to repair the wall 100%. So, you've finished your workout and you've successfully damaged your muscle tissue. Your body needs to repair the damaged muscle fibers. And you need to feed your body the right amino acids to properly repair the damaged muscle. Since BCAAs make up the majority of your muscle tissue, AND since you read this article and understand that BCAAs are the foundation of muscle tissue, you'll supplement your diet with additional BCAAs to keep your body anabolic.
But Higher Power has taken BCAA supplementation a step further! The stomach is a harsh environment, especially for amino acids. Stomach acids can quickly degrade amino acids, so you need a transport system to shuttle these amino acids to your muscle as fast as possible. Sci-fit's BCAA AKG is a pH enhanced BCAA formula. Each amino acid, leucine, valine and isoleucine is bonded with alpha-keto glutarate. This greatly enhances absorption, because the alpha-keto glutarate portion of BCAA AKG can freely pass through cell membranes pulling the amino acid portion of the pair along with it. Why is this important to you? Each gram of BCAA AKG is equivalent to 7.5 grams of traditional BCAAs because they aren't degraded and rendered useless in the harsh environment of your stomach. They reach your muscles at full strength.
