Hey, Does anybody know of any whey protein that has a decent taste? I'm currently taking GNC 100% Whey and it is terrible, as every whey I have tried thus far has been. Any suggestions?
| By Anonymous on Saturday, September 04, 1999 - 06:32 pm: Edit |
first:
as soon as you walk out of gnc shout at the top of your lungs:
RAPE! because that's what happened. i don't know where you
live but i would bet any gym in your area sells good supplements
30-40% off of gnc retail price. several online stores (even with
shipping) offer up to 40% off gnc retail price. PLEASE don't
support gnc. force them to lower their prices.
now with that said, try meal replacement powders. they taste much better than pure protein.

I've been using the Mt-Rex whey. It's got about 50gs of Protein per 200 cal serving. Also if you mix it with skim milk and add a little vanilla extract (to the vanilla flavor) it tastes really good. The trick is to mix it well. Also, adding the milk gives you another 10-20 gs of protein per serving!!

Try Designer Protein by Next Nutrition, Champion Nutrition, Prolab, or the Promax by Sportpharma. These don't taste too bad. Need help in reaching your fitness goals or have a question about fitness? Drop me an e-mail! Take care and God Bless! :)

Hey Dave, i just purchased Optimum Nutrition's 100% Whey Protein in the Chocolate Flavor. You can get it at Bodybuilding.com's store for $14 (2 lbs) opposed to $23 or $24 at GNC (2 lbs). The last protein powder i had really was a pain to get down, but this stuff is great. I use it in water and it tastes pretty good, but if you put it in milk, i'm sure it would taste even better. Hope this helps, man.

Optimum Nutrition (the 5 lb. buckets of protein for $30) are of cheap quality.
| By JJ on Monday, January 31, 2000 - 09:56 am: Edit |
Actually, the 5 pounders are only $26.79 here at Bodybuilding.com. They are not cheap quality... they are very good quality. I have used it and I was VERY impressed!

Try Sci-Fit's 100% Whey protein, in 5 lb. Jugs for about $28.00. Chocolate flavor mixed in milk is JUST LIKE CHOCOLATE MILK. (only proteinier.)

Jimbo, I've seen a lab test on this stuff. It's
garbage.

For my $$, its SportsPharma Promax. Tastes great, low in carbs and fat, easy to mix and I have had great results. It is expensive but at GNC with the Gold Card, it makes it easier.
I just ordered a couple of cases of the Pure Protein drinks. Each has 40 grams of the whey isolate and zero carbs. I want it to drink right after my workout at the Y. Any comments on it. One is made by Perfect (Nature's Best), the other by Van Horn Technologies. Haven't tasted them yet but the flavor sound good. Both have 200 calories, all from protein and come in 22 oz bottles.

VPX Protein in chocolate vanilla swirl with skim milk... taste awesome. I've tried quite a few. It has the lowest carbs of any I have tried.

You know what I've come to enjoy is vanilla myoplex with a banana. It kills that terrible aftertaste. Though, once I started hitting the pure whey stuff, that was a whole different world of tasting like crap. I made the mistake of buying a off brand and the taste was unbelievably bad, threw-up the first time I tried to chug down 100g of protien. Though, over time I've found it easy to consume it, it's all about the mindset you bring to the game. I've found taoist teachings very helpful in my endeavors with getting modivation to workout on a schedule and to eat right.

EAS Simply Complete Whey vanilla is the only protein powder my stomach can handle. It tastes great and doesn't give me gas like all the other protein powders!

Ok, I am 18 years old, 5'9", 125-130 lbs. Looking to gain 10-20 lbs. by end of summer (5 months or so) and lots of muscle. I just started lifting 5-6 times per week but not super heavy (about 30-45 min. a day). I have just started taking MegaMen vitamins, Creatine Monohydrate, and MyoPlex shakes (4 chocolate flavor brand). I can deal with everything except the shakes. I find it way to much to drink. It says mix with 15 oz. of milk but I find that I need a little more milk and use a blender as it really doesn't mix well without. Still tastes pretty bad to me so I don't know what to do. Any suggestions on great protein that tastes better. The MyoPlex has 42g of Protein per serving (pack) and I am taking two packs a day. Please Let me know.

hey
GNC just came out with this stuff called MEGA WHEY protein. This chocolate stuff tastes a lot better than the normal shit. If you mix it with skim milk it tastes like cocoa.

I keep getting mixed messages here.
Thanks.

Yeah, optimum 100% whey is great. Tastes great, very low sugar, no aspartame, 4 types of whey, and good BCAAs. I prefer the chocolate. You can get it at muscleforless.com for $24.99 for 5 lbs.

Biotest's new Advanced Prtein is a great whey/casein mix, almost no carbs or fat, and the best taste I've fonud yet. 20 grams of prottein per scoop, 30 scoopr per tub.

Just my two cents. I have tried a few different protein powders and I thought Prostar Whey by Ultimate Nutrition (strawberry) tasted good. It is a mix of concentrate and isolate and comes about six different flavors. I can purchase at a near by supplement store for 12.95 for two lbs. Ultimate is supposed to be reputable company.

My board is your board, bro. No what I meant is that i'm a moderator and carry a responsiblity in keeping them clean.
If you think this is plastered, you should have been here yesterday before I cleaned up, there must have been twenty or so odd posts.

I bought a 5 lb container of Optimum Nutritions 100% natural whey chocolate flavor and this stuff is horrible!! It doesn't mix well at all and tastes bad too. I don't know why anyone would recommend it. I have used Vitamin World's whey protein and it tastes and mixes much better. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or if it was the fact that I got the natural kind, but I plan on sending it back and going back to the Vitamin World brand. Has anyone tried EAS SimplyProtein or Prolab's Pure Whey?

Try adding bannanas and strawberrys to your blender and it tastes great!
