I would do one of two things, if it is mass you are after(and I have to assume with all that running the answer is no) then do it during and after. What I mean is sip on a shake while you work out, then finish the rest after the workout. It does work. If it is something else like just to get in shape then wait until after the workout. I think it is good to experiment because one way may work for you another may not. I vary the ways.Dorian

Are amino acid tabs as good as protein powders. I ask because powders give me the runs. Please reply

they should work the same, although the tabs may take a little longer to get absorbed

I am 19 yrs old and have been lifting weights for about Three years on and off. I started taking Protein and creatine about 2 mths ago and L-Glutamine about two weeks ago. Now I am getting Diarehea is this from the protein the creatine or is it the L-Glutamine. all three supplements are "Formula one" products. I asked one of the guys @ muscle mag and he told me to stop both the protein and the creatine for about 4-6 weeks to get it out of my system and then go back on it for another 6 weeks. Any advice, pls reply fast

Cat: I need your help. Parents are saying that creatine will cause heart problems, kidney failure among other things. I need a good solid arguement that will let them know their wrong. I need some scientific studies tht are reliable and that were done on this matter. Do you have any links to them?

Ok, i'm still working on the kidney failure, everybody knows that its the other way around, that kidney failure creates creatine excretion, so its hard to find a study to prove that creatine doesn't affect kidneys because there aren't many, but I know there is at least one, and I'm looking for it.
As far as the heart problems, I found this one :
Gordon A; Hultman E; Kaijser L; Kristjansson S; Rolf CJ; Nyquist O; Sylven C , Department of Medicine, Karolinska Institute, Huddinge University Hospital, Sweden, Creatine supplementation in chronic heart failure increases skeletal muscle creatine phosphate and muscle performance, Cardiovasc Res 1995 Sep;30(3):413-8
It goes on to document that lack of creatine is common in heart disorders and that oral creatine supplementation can improve performance and durability of the heart muscle. If that helps any. I'll see what i can do on the kidney thing, but any doctor with half a brain should be able to tell you that creatine doesn't damage the kidneys.

And 5 minutes later he succeeds. Damn I'm good. Here it is, conclusive, peer reviewed and proving the point beyond a doubt : oral creatine consumption does not impair renal function ! The test was conducted over a 5 year period showing creatine to be perfectly safe for periods longer than that. Continuously.
Poortmans JR; Francaux M , Chimie Physiologique, Institut Superieur d'Education Physique et de Kinesitherapie, Universite Libre de Bruxelles, Brussels, Belgium, Long-term oral creatine supplementation does not impair renal function in healthy athletes, Med Sci Sports Exerc 1999 Aug;31(8):1108-10
Hot damn, and the study was performed at the VUB in Brussels, which is my alma mater. Department of exercise physiology in Brussels is the leader in the field.
