Ok lets settle this. Should creatine be taken with glutamine? If they are taken during different parts of the day (ie morning and night) will this stop any possible negative effects. I've heard that one cancels the other out due to the muscles only being able to absorb one at a time? TRUTH?

No, don't take them together. I have had great results taking 5 grams of L-glutamine with my 1st meal, and 5 grams before bed. I take my creatine immediatley after workout which is around 4 p.m.
You can't go wrong with this.

I just bought ZMA HP from EAS, and from what I've heard about ZMA, it should really help. Unless you're getting the perfect amount of Zinc, Magnesium, and Vitamin B6, this supplement should help just about anyone. It is all natural, and just makes sure your own natural testosterone is being produced at optimal levels... I also like HMB. Try the powder from Prolab.

Hey, what DOESN'T compete together... HMB, Creatine, Glutamine, Protein, ZMA, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, etc. I don't want to be taking things that are going to compete for absorbtion and cancel each other out...
By BiG RED ( - 131.128.137.145) on Tuesday, December 05, 2000 - 05:53 am: Edit
hmb, glutamine and creatine will compete..creatine and hmb will also compete w. your protien if it has added l-glutamine...amino acids all use the same substrates to get transported to cells...that is why creatine and glutamine compete
zma and ala dont compete w. eachother, although i would take your ala after you work out and zma before bed

By jnoga ( - 24.166.78.157) on Thursday, January 25, 2001 - 03:07 am: Edit

I wouldn't use the HMB.. I think it is a waste of money, and if it does work the slitest bit, it is too damn expensive...

Directions for using HMB:
1. Take your money out of your wallet.
2. Put it in the toilet.
3. Flush.
4. Gush exhuberantly about how improved your routine is now.

I have been taking creatine and glutamine for sometime and find both of them work great, as for taking them together I see know problems. I take glutamine morning, before/after workout and before bed. Creatine after workout. I take creatine, glutamine, amino along with a bunch of other stuff directly after my workout. My body is hungry and is going to get one inslulin rush, creatine, glutamine and aminow are going to get uptaked. I then follow this with a shake at about 60 gms of protein and 120 gms of carbs about 30 minutes later. I have quite a few friends do this and have gained.
Some people react differently than others, the bottom line is to try supplements one at a time and find out what works for you. If one doesn't work for you, get rid of it and try a different one. The biggest thing though, is your nutrition. You have to eat.
Stay focused, in controll, strong and drug free

Glutamine and Creatine are a strong combo together. What I recommend is taking 5g of glutamine before your workout and 5g of creatine before you workout. After the workout take another 5g of each. After taking 5g the second time of each wait 45 mins then take another 5g of glutamine for a total of 15g and a total of 10g of creatine. For max results that is what I recommend. On your off days of working out just take 10g of glutamine and 5g of creatine.
By Huge ( - 161.57.214.70) on Monday, February 19, 2001 - 10:52 pm: Edit
Taking Cyto-Pro(whey protein) by Cytodyne Technologies is my best recommendation for having a good amino acid profile. Having 20 different amino acids in it with a good amount of each one is a good deal. I would also buy some extra glutamine though. It only has 5g per serving. An extra 10g of glutamine on workout days will give you better results.
By fitforlife ( - 64.123.119.93) on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 - 01:05 am: Edit
It doesn't matter what kind of freaking protein you use. The amino acid profile is very very close in each container of protein per 100g. It might vary 1-3g per 100g of protein, but trust me, you get the aminos. And as far as the 20 different ones go, 9 are essential, and 11 are nonessential. The 9 essential ones are found in ALL proteins except some plant foods. And since our body can synthesize 11 or so of the aminos, it is not necessary to get ALL the aminos from food. Next time you pick up a protein powder, you will see 20 amino acids listed.
So Cyto-pro is the same as the rest. They all have a good profile. So what is yor point? And for god sakes pick a name to use, Marek or Huge, we don't care just post something that makes sense.
That whole spill up above was pointless.

Quick question...what do you guys usually mix your glutamine with? I've mixed it with my Myoplex and regular protein shakes and it tastes like ass. Similarly, i've mixed it with phosphagen HP and it still leaves that chalky taste. Any suggestions? Also, my trainer recommends taking up to 40grams of gluatmine per day..would there be any logic behind that? I'm 18, 5'11 191 lbs with 7% bodyfat looking to compete in a teen competition next year.

Ok, I have a question. I just ordered a protein powder that claims to have creatine in it. Since glutamine is in it also, was this a pointless, or worse, harmful buy??
