I read in "Beyond Pritikin" that flax oil helps to lose weight, while creatine is a fat metabolizer. How, then, you bulk on them?

Creatine does nothing to fat, good or bad. What it does do is store massive amounts of water in the body, which means even at 0% fat you'll still look mighty bloated. Since retaining water is only good for extra nutrients and strength, creatine is therefore a bulking product. Flax can help teach the body to use fat as fuel and decrease carb cravings. in those aspects it helps with burning fat, but it also has 9 calories per gram, meaning that if you take too much you will just get fat on flax. So flax is good for bulking and cutting.

Good combination I found is:

Phanstiel or Creapure Creatine & L-Glutamine.
Although most important supplements to begin with are Multi-vitamins & good protein powder (I use 100% Whey - Optimum Nutrition) with good combination of WPC & WPI. They (most good brands) also provide good source of BCAA's.

Just get a multi-vit and maybe some dessicated liver and ZMA. That would be a good bulking stack.

1 question. Would you suggest just gettin pure creatine? Or would shake that have like 5 gams in it be better?

Pure creatine monhydrate, taking in grape juice

cheaper, just as, if not more effective

By Big Cat HH (Bigcatmod) (213.224.83.174) on Wednesday, August 15, 2001 - 02:54 pm: Edit

yeah pure, then mix it in juice or a good weight gainer.

Ok after searching through the product pages for about 2 hours and doing research for another 2 hours these are the products I've come up with that seem to be a great combo. What do you guys think about it?
1.Prolab Amino Gelcaps
2.Dymatize Dyma-Bol 300
3.EAS HMB
4.EAS Phosphagen HP
5.EAS Myoplex Deluxe
6.EAS Methoxy Factor HP
7.Dymatize Glutamine

These add up to about $300 but it seems like it would pump you up big time. Also anyone know of a brand with a good multi vitamin? I saw EAS multi blend but didn't interest me. Didn't have enough variety. Any others?

ANy one else want to handle this one ? I'm too tired to write the 500 lines it'll take to explain why this will not work. The short version is this, until someone takes pity upon you and explains it fully :

HMB and glutamine have no effect when bulking because they simply will not be absorbed or used. Glutamine is an alternate fuel on a ketogenic diet and hence prevent glutamine being robbed from the muscles. Its an anti-catabolic muscle-preserver. HMB too, but it works by keeping muscle protein intact so it isn't burned.

Methoxy, well, it doesn't work and it may be harmful to health and gains. At least that's the scientific end of things.

The rest is for someone else. But I did notice you didn't add in the essentials for optimal growth : a multi-vitamin, a weight gainer and a shitload of food.

You would spend 300 bucks for a months worth of stuff ? I mean I pay that much for a great 8 week prohormone stack.

Plain and simply, if you want to bulk up you have to eat. I find it advantageous to consume 6-8 meals a day (approx. 2 hrs apart). Protein is key. If one weighs 150lbs. and wants to "bulk" up to 170lbs. it is essential to consume a minimum of 170-180 grams of protein a day. Protein shakes are critical (Unless you have the time and money to eat steak day in and day out). My shake includes 50-60 grams of protein powder, non-fat yogurt, blueberries, strawberries, a banana, a few teaspoons of peanut butter, non-fat milk, and maybe an egg or two. Blend it all up and this recipe makes a very delicious "power" shake.
I'm not much of a fan of supplements, but I do consume multi-vitamins and creatine. I've experimented with Andro and L-Glutamine but I didn't notice any significant changes. I'm sure there are other supplements out there that will produce some gains, but the safest bet is to eat smart, lift hard and get plenty of sleep.
