change up your routines. dont do the same exercises week in and week out. your muscles get used to the same workout routine if you do them the same everyweek.******IMPORTANT****** if you are lifting upperbody( and not one muscle group a week), then 3-4 times a week is TOOOOOO MUCH. the reason your not growing is you need more recovery time between workouts and you need SLEEP!!! i would acutually suggest lifting upperbody and lowerbody 2 days a week( 4 days in the gym a week) since you are a soccer player; 2 days for lowerbody and 2 days for upperbody). make sure these days are spread out so you give your body time to recover. now on to your question. i have news for you. it would be virtually impossible for you to stay "real ripped" year round because you have to drink lots of water when playing a sport like soccer, and adding weightlifting and other sports on top of that. the bodybuilders you see on tv have 2-5 % bodyfat at competition time and the drop all their excess water weight by taking a diruetic( and cutting back on water somewhat). so to make a long story short, you can ripped abs( the things that make the women go crazy) but you will never get the defined and deep cut abs like professional bodybuilders. as for thickning your muscles, such as your chest, make sure you hit all areas of the muscle, but be sure not to overtrain. dont spend more than 1 hour in the gym. and at your age, EAT!!!!! eat some more...... THEN EAT SOME MORE!!!! if you want to put on muslce and get bigger, then you have to EAT, recover, sleep, and lift heavy weight. since you play soccer, you will burn alot of calories, and also cause your 16 your metabolism is very high and burns alot of calories. so if you want to through weighttraining on top of that, you better be prepared to eat till you puke! :) just playing but you get the idea. hope this helps. im sure im leaving out some stuff so if you have anymore questions, then just post another message or email me.
OH YEAH ABOUT THE SUPPLIMENTS: umm... you really dont need anything, as long as you eat good. make sure you get atleast 1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight and 4-5 grams of carbs per pound of bodyweight. something that might be benificial to look into is whey protein. i would recommend that to you as the only thing you need to take. if you want to get your vitamens and minerals, then you could also take a multi-vitamen. but outside of that, i think you will be okay.
just remember, train hard, eat big, then you will be big!! oh yeah drinks lots of water( 2 gallons a day) since you play soccer and weight train.

You can not gain mass and get cut at the same time. Its impossible, no one has been able to do it before (legally that is). You have to pick one, do you want to be cut or bulky

Amen to that, Joe. At 16 your body's still going thru a hell of a lot of changes. If you start playing around w/different supplements, you could really regret it BIG TIME in the long run. I work w/another trainer who did various things around the same age, and boy does he regret it. He's only 21 now, but is reminded of his "mistakes" every day. Good luck and stay focused!

BS, Mary. What is it he regrets and why ? Not using sooner or not using enough ? Im sick anmd tired of knowitalls coming in here with their vague little flames on supplements. Why are you even on this board ?

So what you are saying is ,it is o.k. for a 16 year old to use prohormones,Right? Perferably trhe younger the better?

thank you trainer mary for your kind words and i apologize for big cats ......harmful words. Big Cat, when trainer mary made this statement, i believe she was referring to steroids and testosterone boosters and how the cause shrinkage in the male reproductive organs, not suppliments like creatine, glutamine, whey, etc. no way should a 16 yr old be on any type of steriods, regardless of its strength. at this kids age, his testosterone levels are close to someone who is juicing. everyone is welcomed to their own comments, and that includes everyone. but lets not try to put someone down because of their comments. i happen to agree with mary. you should research the suppliments you put into your body before you take them and dont just "mess around" with suppliments. well thats my 2 cents. anyone got change for a nickel? hehe
LIFT BIG, EAT BIG, BE BIG!!!
