I wouldn't do it.
It would probably be to hard on your stomach.
If you are going to do both.
Use the protein 1 1/2 hours prior to work-out. Then take your creatine 1/2 before work-out.

Right after your workout, your bodies protein levels get much lower and you go into a deficiency mode. That means find some protein fast. If you can't bring a shake to the gym, find a good protein bar.
Good Luck,
Jon

Generally it will be more expensive. However, it is a good idea despite the aforementioned message. Creatine, as well as protein are best after a workout. Yet, protein should be consumed through out the day, while your individual creatine needs will vary.

Take creatine within about 45 minutes of a workout as well as protein, your muscles will need it. You can't just take the creatine, and your workout and gains will be that much more effective if you eat or digest protein following a workout. Research upholds this fact. To grow, the body obviously needs protein, and what better time to feed them protein than when they need it most, post workout.
So, go ahead and buy creatine and protein powder, or some form of them, and consume them after an intense workout and you will find that your gains will be greater and fuller.

What! You don't consume creatine and protein together. They compete for absorbstion thus making the creatine you ingest less effective. Go to http://atozfitness.com/discus/
for expert information, besides I've talked to Pahrumpguru and he agrees. He says to take your creatine right after a workout, then 30 minutes later take a protein drink, then 45 to 60 minutes later consume a whole meal. Sounds good to me. And those guys over at atozfitness seem to agree. But whatever.

Anon above- Very good post. You are absoultly correct. Sorry R&D about the past discussions, now that I see you just like to debate, I am sorry and I am willing to put our short past to the side. I think that we could both admit we did not act totaly mature in the past to one another. HOWEVER, you are only half correct on your post about this subject. The protein need that you posted, is correct. Post workout meal is VERY important, but you should never consume creatine with large amounts of protein at the same time, like a creatine/protein mix. However, just because you are using a protein supp. dosent mean that you cant use creatine, you just have to spread out the time that you take it. (the time table above is correctly stated). Just thought that I could help on that.
R&D, if you would like to contact me through E-mail, because you choose not to leave yours, that would be great.

PS~ I know my spelling sucks, but as long as you can read it and make it out, I say what does it matter? Its the info that is important, not if I know how to spell every word in the Eng. Language.

How did you guys find out about creatine and protein competing for absorption? I've checked with several experts in the field including John Parrillo and Paul Cribb and they say just the opposite---they actually encourage bodybuilders to mix creatine with protein. They are both very successful in taking average weightlifters and helping them turn into competitive bodybuilders. I've also met other serious weightlifters who report success in mixing protein, creatine, glutamine and carbs in a single shake immediately following workouts. Does anyone know why there is such a discrepancy?
I am not a supplement expert, and I haven't met anyone here who is either. But I do know that many of you here are very knowledgeable about certain aspects of bodybuilding nutrition and your response is important to me.
Thanks in advance.

I believe in the past AST have said NOT to mix Creatine and Protein as they thought the 2 would compete for the same passageways. They seem to NOW feel that you SHOULD mix the 2. Hope this helps.
