Creatine and Glutamine- I've heard these compete for absorbtion...do they?...if so then why do people and certain companies continue to combine them?

Creatine and Protein- Same situation here....these two compete for absorbtion from what I hear so why do people and certain companies continue to combine them?

Creatine and Glutamine do compete for absorption but if you notice Creatine with Glutamine never gets past 2-5g of Glutamine. By the time the Glutamine reaches the muscles that need it, it has already descipated in your system. Where as if you look at just a Glutamine product like Prolabs L-Glutamine. You notice it has 45 grams of glutamine. That should answer your question.

Im not sure about the Creatine - Protein deal because ive never read or heard about it. If you do find out please do tell.

Alright the whole creatine protein issue is based on the fact that they are amino acids. Some amino acids compete for absorbtion across the blood brain barrier. Such as bcaa, tyrosine, and tryptophan. Basically you'll get better absorbtion of amino acids in free form states. Such as l-glutamine or creatine(which is composed of l-metione,l-alinine,andl-glycine) if you take them without other amino acids. Now there is a substance known as peptide bonded creatine and glutamine which are combined and this looks like the best combo to take. If you're going to take glutamin with a meal or food make sure it's peptide bonded so it doesn't sit in the stomach and get destroyed by stomach acids. Also this is the same reason why creatine isn't optimally absorbed with food since it sits in the stomach and gets destroyed by stomach acids to form creatinine which is creatines waste by product.

Of course you can, just remember that you should cycle creatine, so after 6-8 weeks, take 3-4 weeks off.

You don't have to take extreme action in order to have better abs, and 2 hours of exercise daily it won't help you a lot. Some good exercises that l can give you for lower abs are "hanging leg raises", and "reverse crunches" (if you don't know them ask your trainer), but you should remember that 70% for better abs have to do with your nutrition. l mean you can not eat junk food all day, and then to expect with 100 reps to have perfect abs (in that case not even 10,000 per day would help). Just take care your nutrition, try to eat 5-6 good nutritional meals every day, that should be based in high protein/moderate carb/low fat ratio, and also increase your cardio workouts, making each one of them 30-40 min around. So l think the best program for maximum muscle gain and cardiovascular training, is to weight train 3 times per week, (ie Mon-Wed-Fri), and another 3 times do some cardio training (ie Tue-Thur-Sat).
Now about your question for creatine, l just said that you can not take creatine for as long as you want, but you should stop after some specific time in order not to give a hard time to your kidneys and liver, since they can not work with "full engines" in a yearly basis. So the usual cycle of creatine as l said is 6-8 weeks on, followed by 3-4 weeks off, and at that period, you can replace creatine either with HMB or with D-Ribose (you don't need to cycle the two last). And also if you take L-Glutamine it would be a very good idea. Just rememember not to take it at the same time with Creatine, because they use the same substrate carriers and cotransporters. When the two are competing with one another for the same carriers, one wins and one loses.

this is a really old thread here...i don't think just adding glutamine would make your gains better in conjunction with creatine unless you changes something else
