When I go to the gym and work out, I usually run at least 4 laps, work: chest, shoulders, triceps, calves, and biceps all in one day. Spend about 2.5- 3 hours at the gym. I work out three times a week with this same routine. I do this because it is the best way i can insure to get a good workout in due to my busy schedeule. Is it better however, to work the different muscle groups on different Days? What are the benefits? ANd How many times a week should arms and chest be worked and Why? What is a good way to alternate, say between Mon-Fri?

lf you spend also 2.5, 3 hours per work out, there is no way to get any good results. Every work out should not last more than 1 hour, no matter what. lf you are doing also cardio try to do it in different days. lts much better to go to your gym for 3 times per week for weight lifting and another 2-3 times for cardio, but if you have no time at all and you want to mix both of them in one session, then finish your weight lifting in 35-40 min and use the remaining 20-25 min for cardio in order to finish on time. So since you go 4 times per week, thats equal of 4 X 25 = 100 min of cardio every week, and you have get great benefits from both, cardio and weight lifting exercise.
