I took creatine for 2 months with noticeable improvements, but then a weird thing happened. When I take it now, my blood pressure goes through the roof. 172/102 last time I took it. My DR. says that I should get off any supplements, andro, creatine, protein drinks, etc. Has anyone else had these types of problems. By the way, I'm 42, 5'10" 230lbs.and have been working out for about a year. THANKS

Andro could cause some of that since it acts a lot like a steroid. I just started taking creatine for the first time. I've been working out for over 10 years and started to get serious again about supplements after about 6 years of not really taking any except multi-mineral/vitamin type stuff.

I'm also taking some 19-nor 250 and some Andro at the same time mixed with creatine. I've noticed a lot gains in strength after 3 weeks, but noticed creatine was making me hang on to too much water. I decided to cut back on the creatine a bit to just 1/4 serving a day and that has helped the water problem. Andro and 19-norandro make people hang on to water of course, since it's like roids, but for me, a regular dose of creatine was too much. That's why I scaled back.

How's your weight? Are you hanging on to too much? If you can shed some body fat (if you have any), that might help with the blood pressure. Maybe add some cardio or add some reps. It's hard to say, but I still think supplements (good ones), can be beneficial. I can't see how a decent protein drink could be detrimental.

Thanks CB. I've been trying to bulk up over the past 4 months. I usually hang around 200. I'm eating more, and working out hard, but not doing any cardio, because I'm not ready for cutting up yet. I have started drinking at least a gallon of water every day. I try to eat good things like chicken, tuna, whey protein drinks, salads, skim milk etc. Maybe I need to drink more water while taking creatine. Also I enjoy a few cold beers 2 or 3 times a week. Maybe the creatine doesn't mix well with alcohol. Thanks again for your help.

Hey Buddy!

Yeah, I like the beers too, but I noticed now that I'm on this stuff is that after a couple of them, I sometimes start to feel a little sick or get a headache. It's strange. I'm not sure if creatine or andro mixes well with booze, but so far nothing really does. It's winter so it makes sense that it's a good time to try to gain some more mass. It looks like you're eating right, I don't a think a pizza or two is going to hurt either but some people are prone to having higher blood pressure. I have a friend that has that, he's 30 and he's on medication for it. He takes it daily like it's nothing unusual. You might want to check out www.onhealth.com as you could do a search for high blood pressure and see what comes up. Also, is your blood pressure higher at 230 than it is at 200? That might be the key in finding out if weight has more to do with it than just chemical makeup. Stay strong!

CB, thanks so much for the input. I never had problems with high blood until I gained the weight. And my DR. told me I don't have the body of a 20 yr. old anymore. He advised me to go all natural. Guess I'll see what happens. Thanks again.
