Does weight training stunt the growth of height in teens? I heard this is true, and is responsible for the short stature in gymnasts. What's the ideal age to start weight training?

When I started training with weights, I was 5'10
Now I work as a circus midget.

YEAH RIGHT. R U TRYING TO SAY THAT YOU DECREASED IN HEIGHT? THATS A TOTAL BULLSHIT. WEIGHT TRAINING DOES NOT ALWAYS STUNT YOUR GROWTH. JUST STAY AWAY FROM SOME EXERCISES AND TRAIN PROPERLY AND YOU'LL BE FINE

Its bullshit that wheight lifting stunts your Growth the Height you grow has to do with Genetics it is only believed by older generations that lifting weights stunts your growth is because alot of the bodybuilder and powerlifters were short but that is just Genetics there is no proof and there is actually proof that lifting does not stunt growth (no offense).

no, if you are training really heavy, at a young age before your bones have finished growing and are at full strength then it can stunt your growth. it can also damage your bones as they are not strong enough to handle the pressure

do military presses ,coiling with bar bells and other weighlifting exercises done while standing affect the height? i have heard it does, as the weight's pressure is on your spinal cord and if you are not fully grown, it will affect your height. does anyone have advice on this?

FIRST OF ALL, weight training does not stunt your growth, WITH CORRECT FORM, however even if your form is off, its still unlikely to stunt your growth and there is NO proof of weights stuinting growth. For the idiot on the top of the page.. stunting is not the same as shrinking. You see, if you lift "too heavy" there is a chance you can fracture your growth plates, but this is true for a lot of sports, injuries can always occur
