[ Q ] How did the gym start and why did you decide to begin (or work within) the gym business.
There had been a big change in the fitness industry in Australia. Most clubs where being set up around the sales driven model, heaps of members with no service unless you pay for it.
They also were dumbing down fitness, giving people unrealistic expectations on the goals they can achieve. We wanted to set up great facilities that offer the best equipment in the world, with service and info that help members achieve their personal goals.

Offer The Best Equipment In The World.
[ Q ] Can you give us a description on what went into opening your awesome establishment?
It took 2 years of planning and several trips to the US - we met with Mike Uretz from World Gym to work through our Australian agreements.
Equipment choice was Hammer Strength and Life Fitness because of the quality of the equipment and the servicing they offer in Australia. 3 months to fit out the building and lots of sleepless nights.

[ Q ] What makes your gym different?
We have a unique atmosphere with a great family feel. There is always a buzz floating around the club, which helps motivate you through your sessions. We believe it is our job to help members get results, not just give them the facility to do it.

[ Q ] What sort of people do you attract into your gym?
We have a 50/50 split between male and females. Ages range from 14 up to 80. We believe we are a club that anyone who is motivated in getting their goals can come and workout.
[ Q ] What inspires people to train at your facility?
Our members are inspired to train here because we have so much variety. With different programs like bootcamp, 8 week challenges, 10 week Pilates courses and nutrition we always have something to keep our members interested.

[ Q ] What special services do you provide?
In addition to our weights and cardio areas, we provide group fitness classes, RPM, a nutritionist, bootcamp, 8 Week Challenge and Pilates programs.
[ Q ] Who are your most notable present and past members?
We have numerous notable members. 2 that come to mind are Victor Tuballa & Julie Bosel. Victor trains to his full potential on every workout and is an inspiration to all.
Julie has, in the last 3 months, completely changed the shape of her body. She has participated in our bootcamp and 8 week challenges.
[ Q ] What was the hardest part about operating your gym?
The hardest part of operating World Gym is keeping our members motivated. We are constantly thinking of ways to help our members stay on track to their goals.
We have introduced many programs to mix it up for the members, which will allow getting to their goal more fun and enjoyable.

[ Q ] What makes you competitive over the other gym chains?
World Gym Australia has opened 3 clubs in the past 2 years in Australia. It is our goal to expand through each state offering people ultra modern facilities with friendly staff and service.
Most gyms are following the sales driven model employed by a lot of the larger chains in Australia. We believe owner/operators help to keep the focus of client services and allow World Gym to have a more personal and motivating atmosphere.
[ Q ] How have you been able to remain so successful and how do you hope to remain so?
We have been successful by simply providing our members with the service they expect. We are here to give them a gym that they want to come to.
Member feedback is very important and that has gotten us to the place we are today. We will remain successful by listening to our members and making business decisions based on what our members want.
