With less than one week from The Europa Super Show, no matter what time you head into Gold's Venice, you're sure to run into top IFBB Pro's. With today being no exception - this short interview takes place outside the entrance to Gold's with myself and IFBB Pro Big Will World Harris.
[ A ] A week from my first win!
[ A ] That was actually after the Iron Man, and what happens is that I always get my guest posing dates confused, on February 19th at the Iron Man I thought I was guest posing - things happen! Related Posing Articles:
Was there anything different that you did differently this year with your diet or training? [ A ] No. Not really. I have less pressure on me. This is your business, and I take it like that, but I still always have a good time with it. If I'm not having a good time with doing what I love then I will stop.
[ A ] Well, when you consider that I only train a third of my body most of the year and then the other body parts come in at 11 or 12 weeks from the show that's a big help. It also helps that I'm a chef by trade, so my food doesn't taste the same. When I diet I'm smiling throughout my whole process.
You actually gain weight and grow up to your show like some of the past pro's such as Gary Strydom did back in the early 90s. You seem to keep filling out up to the show.
Is there anything you can contribute this to? [ A ] I think it's just from looking at the body in a smarter way and using logic when making up a routine. Probably 95% of most people tend to over train. So on my off session I only spend 3 days a week in the gym training with only training chest, legs and back.
12 weeks out from the show I start adding all other body parts and they just start to flourish. I think this routine will work for anyone. Look where we came from; when Arnold was training he had started off overtraining, then in the 80s we cut back to training once a day with each body part being trained once a week. Now with my training, it's like what they did back in the 50s and early 60s - less training so it gives the body time to rest. Related Overtraining Articles:
[ A ] Well, it's the time for extreme in the sport. The fans want to see the extreme, so that also means you have to train extremes.
[ A ] Everything. Will is more than an X-Factor. I will be coming to the Europa at about 282 lbs with a larger and tighter body. Some of the guys like Toney Freeman and Quincy Taylor I have beat before and will again this weekend. This sport is about longevity and I have been here a long time and I will keep going as long as I enjoy it.
