[ Matt Weik ] Hide, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to do this interview for us and Bodybuilding.com. I know the readers will really enjoy our interview as we have a lot to talk about.

Let's start off with a simple bio and background on yourself so the readers can really get a feel for the true Hide and where he came from.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

[ Hidetada Yamagishi ] My name is Hidetada Yamagishi; many people call me "Hide" but pronounce like Heeday, here in US. I was born in Hokkaido, Japan and started lifting weights when I was 16 years old. At that time, I was very skinny, I mean I had been always very muscular just no fat at all so I was only 120lbs and the same height. The reason why I started doing weight training was I wanted to join the Rugby football team in high school. In a few years, I had gained almost 50lbs by weight lifting.

[ MW ] How did you get the nickname "Ultimate Warrior"?

[ HY ] This probably comes from my training style and my mentality for bodybuilding.

[ MW ] 2010 has been a great year for you so far, winning the Europa Show of Champions and placing 2nd in the Phoenix Pro and the New York Pro Championships. What have you changed for 2010 that has already brought you so much success so yearly in the year?

[ HY ] It looks like I suddenly started doing well this year, but the truth is I have been getting better and better every year. I have done 23 pro shows in the last 5 years. The very first year I started competing as a pro was 2005, and I did not do well.

But in 2006, I already did a pose down with Jay and Ronnie at the Holland GP. I made my first Olympia contest in 2007. I am getting bigger each year but the main reason I have done so well in the 2010 season is that I nailed my condition on the stage, never been off. My nutrition coach, Neil Hill, makes me reach peak condition every time I step on the stage.
