In the following interview Warren explains how she has made her recent physical improvements and what her plans for the future are. Learn more.

Article Summary:
  • Trish Warren will be competing for the 2010 Ms. International at the Arnold Classic!
  • With a new routine and a smaller, symmetrical physique Trish is ready to compete.
  • The Arnold Classic takes place March 4-7th.

Upon winning her first fitness competition at the 1999 Ronnie Coleman Classic, top-ranked pro Trish Warren's rise has been rapid, and there are no signs of it slowing anytime soon.

Achieving her pro card with a win at the 2002 NPC Nationals secured Warren a career in an extremely competitive industry that rewards only those who make the sacrifices needed to continuously improve while maintaining razor hard conditioning year in and out, something she has successfully managed to do while running a business and taking care of her family.

Bursting on to the pro scene in grand style in 2008, Warren captured 2nd place in the New York Pro Fitness category and, later that year, 9th at the prestigious Fitness Olympia. 2009 brought further rewards with a 7th placing at the Arnold Classic Fitness International and another NY Pro runner up title.

With constant improvements and some of the hottest legs and abs on the circuit today she is not only a literal and figurative firm fan favorite but also a likely future pro show winner.

Having already established a successful fitness career, much is expected of Warren, wife of bodybuilding's own most muscular man in the world, and ultra-successful IFBB pro, Branch Warren. It is no surprise then that the number one priority for the fitness champ is to win a pro title in the near future.

With another tilt at the coveted Arnold Classic title in a few weeks time she will be aiming to be in her best shape ever; with a smaller and more symmetrical look - including an even tinier waist and denser musculature - along with an improved routine she is bound to impress if not go all the way.

In the following interview Warren explains how she has made her recent physical improvements and what her plans for the future are.

Trish Warren Interview

[ Q ] At the 2009 Olympia you did not place where many expected you would. After the finals many thought you should have been much higher. What do you need to do this year to ensure that the final decision is beyond doubt at the Fitness International?

I need to come in a little less muscular, and nail my routine. I have no control over where I place; all I can do is work harder to bring a better overall package to the Fitness International! Most important is to keep believing in myself!

[ Q ] How did you take your placement at last year's Olympia? Did it give you greater motivation for the 2010 season?

I was disappointed but not discouraged. Sometimes you have to take a step back to go two steps ahead. I am more motivated than I have ever been! I have worked very hard since the Olympia to tone down my muscularity and bring the best physique to Columbus.

[ Q ] How are you looking right now, four weeks out from the Arnold Classic? How do you expect to look come show time?

I feel like I am on target, my waist is smaller right now than it has ever been! So my new approach must be working.

[ Q ] As a fitness competitor, what aspects of your prep do you focus on most as the contest approaches and how does you prep differ to that of a bodybuilder?

My primary focus is on my fitness routine! Due to the extreme cardio conditioning it takes to perform a fitness routine, my body gets in shape very quick.

[ Q ] Could you provide an outline of the training program you have used to prepare for the Fitness International?

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: 10-11 Gymnastics and Routine work, and from 5-6 1 hour of cardio, usually running.
  • Tuesday: Upper body, I do 5-6 exercises with very light weight and high reps 50-100, I try to keep my heart rate up the whole workout! I also do 1 hour of cardio, running or track workouts.
  • Thursday: Lower body, 5-6 exercises with very high reps, and 1 hour of cardio.
  • Sunday: 1 hour of cardio after church and lay around the house the rest of the day.

[ Q ] What changes, if any, have you made to your training program from previous years? Why is this?

I am not lifting weights heavy or consistently. I have weight trained for over 10 years and feel that my muscle memory and maturity is where it needs to be, at this point I only want to maintain. I always want to present a healthy realistic physique.

[ Q ] Are there any areas - physique or stage routine- that you are looking to improve on for this year's International, and, if so, how will you address these?

I am going to improve in both areas. I have a new routine that fits my personality, and I am bringing my physique in smaller and very symmetrical.

[ Q ] Could you provide an outline of the nutrition plan you have used for this year's Fitness International?

[ Q ] How do you ensure you achieve an ultra defined physique the final week before a show?

I usually keep everything going the same, I don't really tend to hold water, and I don't want to take the chance to throw my body off by trying crazy things.

[ Q ] You are, of course, partner to successful top ranked pro Branch Warren. How has he assisted you in your preparation for the 2010 Fitness International?

He doesn't do my diet or help in any way with my training or routine. All I ask of him is to support me and to give me his honest opinion, whether I like it or not.

[ Q ] Does it make life easier for you having someone in your corner who has been through many years of top-level competition, as Branch has? In what ways?

Of course it's awesome having him by my side. He understands what it takes to be at the top, and what I go through on a daily basis to get ready.

[ Q ] What aspects of you routine and physique will capture the judge's attention and give you an edge come March in Columbus?

I think it will be both my routine and physique! I have listened to the judge's critiques after the Olympia and worked diligently to fix them! I guess it's up to them to decide if I did my homework!

[ Q ] What has your basic training philosophy always been and how has this approach benefited you through the years?

Give 100 percent to whatever you do, and always be willing to learn and to try new things. Our bodies adapt so quickly to a normal routine, that in order to go above and beyond you must continue to challenge yourself.

[ Q ] What are your immediate Fitness goals?

To finally earn a pro victory, and to qualify for the Fitness Olympia.

[ Q ] What are your long-term Fitness goals?

To just be myself and always set a good example for others to follow - there is no excuse for being out of shape you just have to learn how to manage and lead a healthy life!

I am the President of a business, a full- time Mom/Aunt (our nephew moved in with us this past June), I travel almost every weekend for my sponsors and for guest appearances, I prepare about 21 different meals a day, and I compete! Most importantly I am a dedicated wife, and a devoted Christian. I want people to see that no matter what your situations may be you can always make time to be healthy.

[ Q ] Is there anyone - including sponsors - you would like to thank for having helped you to reach this stage in your journey?
