Body Fat: 69% Waist Size: 70
Body Fat: 18% Waist Size: 40 Over the last 3 1/2 years I have lost 370 pounds, for a total of 1,260,000 calories burned over and above my daily intake. I am driven to be the first person who weighed over 600 pounds and transformed my body to less than 10% body fat and compete in a bodybuilding contest. I have had over 9 pounds of skin removed from my body and need about 9 more to finish what I have started. So far I have removed 6 pounds off my stomach, 2 1/2 off my chest, and 1/2 pound off each arm. Next I will have skin removed from the back of my waist, my upper back, and then my legs to complete my transformation.
To lie down and die, or stand up and fight, that was the choice that I had to make. It sounds like an easy choice, but when you weigh over 600 pounds, the choice to stand up and fight is the path of most resistance. The two questions that are asked of me the most are:
Now that I run a health club and workout everyday I am faced with my own demons everyday and I spend hours analyzing my lifestyle and eliminate the things that contributed to my own self destruction. I accept full accountability for what I did to myself, for I recognize there were many times I did things that I knew were bad for me, and I did them anyway. I have been Big John since I was 10 years old, but I never was able to play football until I was in high School. By the time I was 13, I was over 300 lbs. I never dated in high school and to make things worse my prom date was in love with my best friend, with whom we double dated. I managed to graduate in the top 10% of my class and I weighed 265 lbs. I started an office job and over the next 3 years I ballooned up to 618 lbs. I tried every diet from the Optifast liquid diet, Lindora, OA, Weight Watchers, Cabbage Diet, Atkins, and numerous medically supervised programs. The yo-yo effect these diets had on my body ruined my metabolism. I was suffering from chronic High Blood Pressure, Sleep Apnea, diabetes, Gall Stones, Cellulites of the legs, and chronic joint pain.
These were the easy symptoms, the hard parts were the emotional and social problems, for I was extremely lonely, I had no clothes that looked good, I didn't fit in chairs and I broke many. A series of horrible events took place at the same time, starting with spending a week in the hospital with a severe case of Pancreatitis. Then a very close friend was getting married and I didn't go because I was ashamed of the way I looked and did not have appropriate clothing, followed by losing my job and my best friend.
I felt it was the end of the world, but it eliminated all my outside obligations, and that's when I made working out my job and life.
I knew I had to make a complete lifestyle change and I needed to see results fast, for at 567 pounds I had one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. I started doing 2 workouts a day in the pool for a month, and then started circuit training before my pool workout.
The fact that I was so out of shape actually benefited me, for after each workout I would pass out for about 2 hours, I was able to keep this up for 80 days straight. I lost over 100 pounds and for the first time in 15 years I was mentally and physically strong and I believed that my goal weight of 299 was attainable. Amazingly LA Fitness sports clubs hired me to be a membership counselor at the weight of 465 pounds. This career change set me up for a level of success that I could never have imagined, for now I had a personal army of trainers assisting and educating me to improve my quality of life.
This turned out to be the best decision of my life, for it kept me in the gym and I had a formidable group of people to emulate. I managed to get down to 260 pounds, but I had an enormous amount of loose skin and not enough muscle. I started training with Body Builder David Yeung the son of famed Bolo Yeung, and he rebuilt my damaged shoulders, and improved my muscularity exponentially preparing me for plastic surgery.
Over the next year and a half I had 2 surgeries removing 9 pounds of skin.
I currently run a 45,000 square foot sports club in Oregon, and I spend my days helping people find the motivation to change their lives. I have a fiance and I live a healthy life of abundance, I eat healthy, workout everyday, and try to learn more about how the body functions. I just want my body to be the best that is humanly possible.

Put all together and wisk into salad.
The most important ingredient for training is consistency, stick to your program for 6-8 weeks and then change your format. Since I workout everyday I do one muscle a day, to failure then not again for 1 week. First exercise is 4 sets of 10 as heavy as possible, then each excise after is 3 sets of ten last set to failure. 1. Chest: 2. Back:
3. Legs: 4. Biceps & Triceps:
5. Shoulders:
6. Abs (every other day):
The key to success is consistency, and a complete change of lifestyle. Too often people try to influence results rather than influencing thinking. Everything we do is learned, so educate yourself on how the body works and what it will take to change yours.
