With Victor Martinez out of the competition this year, who will come in at number 1? Will Phil "The Gift" Heath come in and blow everyone out of the water or will Dexter's wonderful symmetry finally give him 1st place. It is a guarantee that this year's Arnold Classic will be very exciting and unpredictable.

The 2008 Arnold Sports Festival, held in Columbus Ohio, is the world's largest multi-sport fitness weekend. Held this year on Feb. 29-March 2nd, the Arnold Classic features 38 events including 12 Olympic sports. With over 17,000 athletes competing, the Arnold Classic is a must watch. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Lorimer are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Arnold Classic this year, which makes this one even more special.

1. Phil Heath:

Phil has made so many improvements over the last year that it is hard not to make him first. His physique has changed dramatically, bringing more mass and definition. Over the past year he has added 55 pounds of mass and was able to reach 270 pounds.

He should be landing on stage around 240 pounds shredded this year, which is absolutely remarkable. He has improved his weak points, chest width and back thickness, and is looking superior to the competition this year. I expect "The Gift" to take first, or 2nd at worst.

2. Dexter Jackson:
dots

If anyone has perfect conditioning, it is Dexter. His nickname, "The Blade", speaks for itself. Dexter comes in every single year with top notch conditioning and 100% shredded. If the judges were to vote on symmetry alone, Dexter would take the prize with ease. The only downfall to Dexter is that he lacks the mass that other competitors bring to the table.

After seeing a current picture of Dexter, it looks as if he has gained quite a bit of needed mass. With the best abs in bodybuilding, Dexter should easily place second, if not first. I'm taking Dexter under Phil for the reason that he lacks the mass and improvement that "The Gift" will be bringing.

3. Toney Freeman:
dots

Toney is the true definition of a "Monster". At 6'2", 275-pounds, Freeman always brings great mass and thickness to the table. He generally comes in with top notch conditioning and has something to prove this year. If Toney has added more size and striations, do not be surprised if he breaks the top 3. I expect Toney to come in at 100%, but I still feel Dexter and Phil have more to bring.

4. Gustavo Badell:

The fourth spot was a hard decision for me, but I feel Gustavo has something to prove this year. After taking third place at the Olympia from Dexter Jackson and winning the 2005 Iron Man Pro, Badell is a definite contender. He has great symmetry and comes in with top notch conditioning year by year.

He has unquestionably made improvements as of lately, but lacks density in some areas. I expect him to place easily in the Top 5, but certainly not the top 3.

5. Silvio Samuel:
dots

Silvio made a notable wave last year. He was a top contender in almost every competition, and constantly comes in at his best. He placed 7th at his very first Mr. Olympia and has made even more improvements since then. Silvio has some of the best delts in the league and has one of the smallest waists imaginable. If he comes in with good conditioning, he will be a definite contender!

6. Desmond Miller:
dots

The 2006 NPC Nationals Overall champ Desmond Miller is looking spectacular. The 260-pound "Wheels of Steel" had one of the best rookie season's ever. Desmond had fourth and second place finishes at the New York Pro and Keystone Classic, and is looking to prove even more this year. I would love to put him higher in the contest, but he lacks the experience that these other guys are bringing.

7. Branch Warren:
dots

Branch Warren truly has a "complete" physique. He has a tremendous amount of mass and pretty good conditioning, but hasn't had any big wins as of late. He has a remarkable back, with immense thickness and detail, and astonishing legs. In fact, I would say Branch has one of the top 3 quads in the sport of bodybuilding. The only problem is, his conditioning isn't quite good enough in my opinion. Unless he comes in 100% shredded, I expect Warren to place 5th at best.

8. Johnnie Jackson:
dots

With one of the most impressive backs in the game, Johnnie is always a contender. Said to be the "Strongest bodybuilder" in the world, he always brings great thickness and mass to the table. The only thing standing in his way of winning a big contest is his conditioning. If he can come in this year absolutely shredded, I could easily see him breaking the top 5. But will he?

9. Kai Greene:
dots

Kai has made some major improvements since last year. He has gained a substantial amount of mass and should come in with good conditioning. He is sitting around 225 pounds at the moment and should do well if he comes in shredded to the bone. I expect him to place in the Top 10, but can't see him doing much better.

10. David Henry:
dots

David always has superior conditioning but lacks the mass that other's bring to the contest. If he can come in with more mass than last year, he could easily break the Top 5. I just don't believe he can bring the amount of size needed to do so. But like always, Henry is a definite contender!

Bonus Question
Have You Ever Attended The Arnold Classic And Expo? If So, What Did You Think Of It And How Was Your Experience? Was It What You Thought It Would Be? How Could It Be Made Better?
dots

I have attended the Arnold Classic and Expo the past 2 years. If you ever decide to go to a bodybuilding event, this is definitely the one. There are tons of things you can do and watch, whether your into fitness competitions or strongman competitions.

My first time attending the expo I was dumbfounded. I visited all the booths and walked out with over 50 free samples. Most of the companies have great deals on their new products as well, so it's nice to stock up while your there. It was definitely what I thought it would be, and more. The only downfall is the extremely large crowd, but if you attend the expo on Friday it is much better.
