 Why I Got Started

My name is Samantha and I am a 23-year-old woman on a mission. I want my body to be inspirational to my daughter and other young women around the world. I never felt this way until I had given birth to my 8-pound, 3-ounce baby girl in June of '08. Not that I was hot before but I was thin and I always had been. The very last day I was pregnant I weighed in at 160 pounds. Wow, at my height of 5 feet even that is a lot to carry around. After birth I ended weighing around 145 pounds which is still insanely heavy and very uncomfortable. Being that heavy is so tough because you feel like there is no hope to being thin and healthy.
The ignition for my revolution ended up being so silly. My then 24-year-old husband was watching TV and he was gawking at Bridgette Marquardt of Playboy and Travel Channel's Bridgette's sexiest beaches. I thought to myself, "That is a 37-year-old woman and she has a better body than I do. Don't men usually stare at younger women?" (Unfortunately I was the younger woman and nothing good to look at.) I was disappointed in myself for letting silly things get to me and for me not doing anything about it. I want to be able to wear a bikini and look good and I want to be able to keep up with my toddler at the park. My daughter Lily means the world to me and I want to show her that you can make anything happen. I think the most noticeable and rewarding way to do that is through human transformation.

 How I Did It

I really had to find my motivation to push. My new motivation: $50 and bragging rights. That's it. Something inside me (probably competitive spirit) ignited that fire again. I started walking everywhere and running in between. My diet consisted of 2 Egg Whites w/ a small bowl of Fruit and 1 cup of 1% Milk or a bowl of plain Yogurt, lunch was a Tofu type sandwich and water, and dinner was an MRP Shake.
I now weigh 109 pounds and my body fat is 15%. Soon I will have the abs that I want with the help from the inspirational people at Bodybuilding.com. I am still a novice when it comes to what exercises to do and the correct positions. Honestly, thinking of all the different exercises you can do with all the different machines and nick-nacks that the gym has makes my head spin. I try and keep it simple.

 Suggestions for Others

Whatever you do don't give up. During your dieting find someone that's in the same position you are and hold each other accountable. When you're running, don't look at the floor, look to your goal, and when you feel tired, don't stop. It's much more rewarding when you stop at the finish line (not to mention that the burning you feel when you're done is one of the most incredible and gratifying sensations you'll ever know).
