Don't Kill Your Children: Make The Right Choices For Your Child's Future!

McDonald's menu can be just as healthy as it is unhealthy. This is what I would imagine most people, like me, feed their children. Right? Dead wrong! Here's one way I exercise my right to make healthy choices. Read on.

Article Summary:
  • McDonald's menu can be just as healthy as it is unhealthy.
  • Educate your children on healthy eating from the start.
  • Eating healthy will help control any attitude and behavioral issues.
  • America is fat. Not just fat, but nasty fat. Nasty, unhealthy and miserably fat. Now that the doom and gloom and insults are out of the way, let's examine why America is fat. To do this, I will just take my memory way back to most Sunday mornings when I am at home.

I usually go to McDonald's PlayPlace to let my daughter play on the equipment and exercise her little tail off while my wife and I sip on black coffee. Yes, buying the coffee makes me feel better about being anti-McDonald's and still using their expensive play facility.

Most articles that start like this would go into why McDonald's has this PlayPlace; to indoctrinate our kids into unhealthy lifestyles and to associate their fatty, nasty food with childhood fun. Well, this ain't where I am going. I am an American that believes in a person's right to choose.

As an American, I do not want to be taxed if I want to eat fatty foods. I want the choice. Well, just as our right to choose where to spend our hard earned money is taken from us through bureaucratic, wasteful government spending and taxation, I do not want the government to dictate what I should eat!

The other day, I walked up the aisle to the restroom and looked at the tables of parents and their 3-to-9-year-old children. What did I see? Pancakes with sugary syrup, some greasy looking egg sandwich thing and this hockey puck looking device that said "hashed browns" on it.

These kids, while still lean and benefitting from their ultra fast metabolism and endless childhood energy and activity were now setting the stage for bad habits and a future of serious health conditions.

Hotcakes With Syrup & 1% Low Fat White Milk Jug (8 fl oz):

      • Calories: 640
      • Total Fat: 11 g
      • Saturated Fat: 3.5 g
      • Cholesterol: 30 mg
      • Sodium: 730 mg

This is just for pancakes and milk! 640 calories is well over 1/4 of an adult's typical recommended daily caloric intake of 2,000 calories. I highly doubt that my 35 lb three year old needs 11 grams of fat and the rest of these insulin spiking calories.

Talk about a rise and crash! Instead, I bring a snack of dried, natural fruit and a shaker cup of fat free milk and whey protein in it and a side of cashews. This seems to be the rational decision. But, we never see this at our local McDonald's.

Once we keep insulin stable, we are able to really see how amazing our children can behave. And we also do not want to make our children more susceptible to diseases later on that will severely hamper their quality of life.
