What Are Some Low Calorie Sources Of Protein?

Dino, I am interested in increasing the protein in my diet, but I do not want to change the way I eat. I am a fitness competitor and already follow a good diet. I realize the importance in adequate protein intake and I am looking for some low calorie foods that are packed with good sources of protein. Please help me!

Dietary protein provides nutrient material, which is necessary for the processes of growth and repair in your body. This includes muscle tissue. The following foods are suggested for use when trying to increase the protein in your diet. To add protein to your diet you should eat more of the following foods.

Tuna Fish

Egg Whites & Egg Beaters

Chicken

These are common high protein foods other choices include: soy and powered milk products, lean cuts of beef, and turkey. Additionally another way to increase you protein intake is through supplementation. To find the right protein for your goals visit the protein finder on the Bodybuilding.com site. By adding these foods and supplements to your daily diet you can gain all of the added benefits associated with protein while keeping the amount of kilocalories in your diet relatively low.

The method of preparation when cooking the food is important. These foods should be grilled, baked, broiled, and/or boiled. The soy, protein supplements, and powdered milk products are not cooked but can be easily added to baked goods, water, juice, and other supplemental formulas. Good luck in your competitions next year!
