34 years after his death, Bruce Lee is still a fitness icon. His commitment to weight training laid the groundwork for generations of well-muscled fighters and athletes.

WOODLAND HILLS, CA, February 22, 2008 - While Bruce Lee (1940-1973) is recognized the world over as the most famous martial arts practitioner to ever grace the big screen, it was perhaps his physique that has made the most lasting impression. In the April issue of Muscle & Fitness magazine, Lee's wife, daughter, old training partners and former students weigh in on how his strict adherence to weight training and nutrition helped build the body that remains as the standard for elite conditioning.

Very inspirational and motivational, if you're aren't too much of a dumb sh*t to understand the meaning behind them.

"He didn't set out to be a role model for physique-minded people but that's exactly what he became," says M&F senior editor Eric Velazquez, who wrote the feature. "It was entirely by accident that he ended up becoming the measuring stick for great conditioning and pure strength."

Lee pieced together his routines from various books and magazines (including Muscle Builder/Power: the forerunner of Muscle & Fitness) in order to bolster his on-screen appeal and enhance his strength and striking ability in combat. The programs that he used reflect the same types of strength and muscle-building schemes used by many of today's physique competitors. Bodybuilders such as Dorian Yates, Flex Wheeler and Kevin Levrone all consider Lee to be one of their greatest inspirations.

The 10-page article includes some of the actual workout journals used by Lee in his prime. Also included is a sidebar - featuring quotes from UFC president Dana White and several of today's top fighters - on how Lee would have fared in today's increasingly popular Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

The issue, which also contains a 37-page nutrition superfeature, is available on newsstands March 3rd, 2008.
