[ Q ] How do you stick to a New Year's resolution?

Honestly, I stopped setting New Year's Resolutions about 5 years ago because I don't stick with them...seriously.

[ Q ] How do you avoid temptation at a social gathering when you are on a diet?

I avoid temptation at social gatherings when I'm dieting by never leaving home without food...ever! I don't care if the place where I'm going says they have a "healthy food", I still bring my own. If it's at a restaurant, I usually end up eating before I attend and just sip water, coffee, or a sugar free drink while I'm there. I was actually in a wedding one summer while I was dieting and made chicken fried rice (competitor friendly version) and brought it to the wedding. I asked the servers to heat it up and bring it out when they were bringing everyone's entrees out so I wouldn't stand out from the rest of the wedding party.

Mine looked so good people actually asked if they could have what I ordered. I think being well prepared and constantly armed with food is the only way I am able to avoid temptations.

[ Q ] What is your favorite feature on BodySpace?

I like the BodyBlogs the best. It is interesting and entertaining at times to see and hear about what is on the minds of others. Blogs can be a great sounding board, a venting or gripe session, a therapy session, or a way to share information. The diversity of the blogs is what is truly amazing. You not only find health information and tips, but also news, laughs, videos, and anything about life in general. I think it is definitely one of the features that unifies the users and allows us to see how similar we all truly are.

[ Q ] Which BodySpace member inspires you the most?

Kassandre Harper (Making_A_Change) is one of my inspirations. She is just a "real" person. No phoniness about her whatsoever. I respect how candid she is in her blogs and training journals. I admire how she is constantly reassessing her physical and mental progress.

Her consistency is impressive...900+ blog entries? (And I'm talking real blog entries with substance). Amazing! She epitomizes personal growth and the transcending of obstacles. She also demonstrates that you can be a fit, classy, and sexy mother and wife.

She is not afraid to let others see her shortcomings, yet she displays resilience by bouncing right back, tackling, and conquering her challenges. Kassandre is a very humble girl and just an all around nice person. I have a lot of respect for her as a competitor, friend, and human being.

[ Q ] How do you plan on inspiring others as a BodySpace Spokesmodel finalist?

Like I said in my video, I can't make it my goal to inspire others. The only things I can do are wake up every day and make it my goal to be the best person I can be on that day. I am fairly candid about the struggles and blessings of life (family, friends, foods, training, competing, my faith, social injustices, education, finding balance in life, etc). People see that and can agree or disagree, but they can't dispute the fact that I am being straightforward and genuine in my thoughts and experiences. It's about personal growth which starts from within and I think a lot of people often forget that.

My attitude, work ethics, morals, and values are evident in my daily living. You can see where someone's priorities lie by looking at how they live their life. I am no exception. Living my life by example is the way I feel I can best inspire others. Declaring and talking about what I will do to inspire means nothing if I don't do it myself.

Life isn't about lip service, it's about walking the walk. The best leaders are those who lead by example and Laura Bailey can show you better than she can tell you.

So maybe the shortest answer to the question of how I plan to inspire others as a spokesmodel finalist would be to say, "By just being me! Genuinely me."

[ Q ] How do you stick to a New Year's resolution?

Pretty much every year for my New Year's resolution I choose to gain another 10 pounds of muscle. Every year I gain more knowledge about training and dieting, and I am able to improve my physique! Although I have yet to gain the exact 10 pounds, I still gain muscle in the much needed places and know that if I stick with it, I will reach those 10 pounds!

[ Q ] How do you avoid temptation at a social gathering when you are on a diet?

After going through nutritionist schooling, I learned what happens when I eat food that isn't beneficial to my body. So basically when I see those hors d'oeuvres and sweet goodies, I picture them being pure cellulite and love handles! So I am immediately turned off and that makes it easy to say no.

[ Q ] What is your favorite feature on BodySpace?

My favorite feature on BodySpace is the large variety of forums! I love how it helps with any questions you may have and allows you to help out where you can.

[ Q ] Which BodySpace member inspires you the most?

Ava Cowan inspires me the most on BodySpace. She always looks amazing and has a ridiculous core! Also she has made it so far in the fitness industry I'd love to be half as successful as her!

[ Q ] How do you plan on inspiring others as a BodySpace Spokesmodel finalist?

As a BodySpace Spokesmodel finalist I hope to inspire others to stick with their training regiment and meal plan no matter what their goals! I have to fight what some would say a losing battle with such a high metabolism and I gain all my fat in my midsection! So if I didn't train, I'd look like a marshmallow with toothpicks stuck in the sides! So we all have something we are battling with our bodies, some may take longer to reach their goals, but they are attainable none the less! Keep training hard, BodySpace!

[ Q ] How do you stick to a New Year's resolution?

I begin by defining a specific, attainable goal. Next, I set a date and formulate a plan of action. Last, I get to work! I try to keep track of my progress as well as find articles, quotes, clothes, new recipes...anything that inspires me, keeps me excited and focused on my goal, so that that I don't get lost along the way. It also helps to tap into some kind of a group that is working toward their New Year's Resolutions too.

This can be an exercise group at your gym, a workout partner, or my favorite --a group on BodySpace! The important thing is that you are surrounded by others who have the same mindset as you so that you can all help encourage each other and hold each other accountable.

[ Q ] How do you avoid temptation at a social gathering when you are on a diet?

I give myself a lot of pep talks! It sounds funny, but I really do! I remind myself of my goals and why they are important to me. I ask myself, "Is cheating really worth it for this?" Usually, it's not, so I feel better and enjoy the social gathering knowing that I made the best decision for ME! Others will think I'm crazy for sure...but oh well...I've got my eyes on the prize, people!!

I will also try and eat before I go so that way I am less tempted to indulge. While there I can get away with eating a salad....although I still may get some comments like, "No wonder she's skinny...all she eats is salad!" But, I can just shrug my shoulders and laugh because I know that earlier I ate a huge power-packed 6 egg white omelet loaded with veggies and topped with salsa!

[ Q ] What is your favorite feature on BodySpace?

Since I have to pick just one, I'd say my favorite feature is creating a network of fitness minded friends. It is very refreshing to build relationships with other people who "get it" when it comes to living this lifestyle. Having these friendships makes all the difference because we can talk freely about our diets, competitions, dreams, and goals without worrying that they think we are crazy or too serious about it.

They get why we are so tan and why we "torture" ourselves with meals consisting only of chicken breast, brown rice and asparagus. Also, when I least expect it, someone will send me a short comment or message that truly means so much to me, gives me a little pep in my step and inspires me to get in the gym and keep going!

[ Q ] Which BodySpace member inspires you the most?

I have looked up to Monica Brant for as long as I can remember! A couple of years ago, I was fortunate enough to attend one of her fitness camps and it was an amazing experience. She really took the time to encourage us, give feedback, and fill us to the brim with all the knowledge and information she has attained through her experiences in the fitness industry. She is a truly remarkable woman on the inside and out. Monica inspires me because she just keeps going and keeps getting better and better.

She gives me hope that if you stay with it- you can reach your goals and see your dreams come true! She is also proof that you should never stop reaching for more...because look at her now!

[ Q ] How do you plan on inspiring others as a BodySpace Spokesmodel finalist?

As a finalist, I hope to inspire others through my words and actions. My dad always encouraged me to never give up, to always finish what I start, and to never quit dreaming. I want to encourage others just like my dad encouraged me. I want to represent the belief that with discipline, dedication and determination- anything is possible.

[ Q ] How do you stick to a New Year's resolution?

I am all about setting realistic monthly goals! In 2011 I am going about it a bit different with my resolutions and decided to set monthly goals so that I don't lose sight as to what I am working towards and the overall big picture. What I notice is many people make one big resolution and 3 months into the year they begin to get discouraged and lose interest. I do not want that to happen to me this year! Each month I am going to set a mini goal in that month to lead me to the overall big picture.

For instance, one of my resolutions is to build my company AZ Pro Physiques and grow in 2011. To do that, my first goal going into the New Year is to spend the month of January making sure my trainers are at their capacity of clientele. I am going to advertise and reach out to other businesses to make sure this happens. Also, more social media marketing in the month of January.

So my advice, "Set mini goals each month to lead you to achieving your New Year's resolutions."

[ Q ] How do you avoid temptation at a social gathering when you are on a diet?

This surprisingly isn't very hard for me to do. I know when I have specific goals I am working towards I can be mentally strong enough to avoid temptation. Many times I eat my meal before the party or bring my own food so I can at least participate in eating when everyone else is eating. I also make sure to keep hydrated with lots of water! With that said, it also depends on what day this gathering falls on.

Sometimes I am able to have a cheat meal depending on my body and how I am looking for my show or just how I am feeling overall. If I have been consistent all week and I am able to have a cheat, I will definitely partake in some cheat foods. Having a cheat once a week is perfectly fine as long as it's once a week and in moderation.

[ Q ] What is your favorite feature on BodySpace?

One of my favorite features is the BodyStats and Charts. It is so awesome to see the graph and the changes in the physique. I love looking through other BodySpace members and seeing their progress over the course of the months and years. It is a great feature to have because for many it's like their own mini personal trainer and keeps you pushing your body to do better and better.

[ Q ] Which BodySpace member inspires you the most?

Kathleen Tesori and Jamie Eason both inspire me! I have known Kat for the last 3 years and she has been an amazing friend and athlete of mine. We began working together and to see her motivation and dedication inspired me to work harder as well. Her incredible attitude and personality definitely rubs on the people she meets, and that is what I love most about her.

Jamie Eason is another incredible person that I admire. Her success in and out of the industry is amazing and I hope to achieve that someday. Jamie is not only extremely knowledgeable but also very personable and nice when you speak to her.

[ Q ] How do you plan on inspiring others as a BodySpace Spokesmodel finalist?

This is a great question and one that I try to live everyday! I truly believe that by following my passion, never giving up and practicing what I preach I'm inspiring many without even realizing it. Being true to myself and never giving up on my goals is something I have been doing ever since I was a little girl. Quick story, when I was in 7th grade I made the volleyball team. I was horrible, I was 2nd string and only came in when my team was ahead.

My mom was very frustrated that I played so horribly, given that I was extremely athletic . She sat me down at the end of the season and said to me "Do you want to play next year?" I said "Yes!" She then said "Do you want to start next year and be the best girl on the team?" I said "Yes!" Well, my mom said, "That's all I need to hear."

From that point I signed up for a club volleyball organization and practiced and played that whole year. I got a lot better and more comfortable with myself...I worked extremely hard to learn the skills necessary to be a great player. That next year I was in 8th grade, made the volleyball team, started on first string and was the MVP player that year! I didn't give up...I knew if I worked hard I could achieve anything.

My whole life has been that way and over the years I have had a number of coaches, including my college softball coach, describe me as a player that "Leads by example." That's how I live my life, which has been inspiring for my clients, family and other girls out there who want to compete or change their bodies.

Being a BodySpace Spokesmodel would mean so much to me! I feel I have a lot to offer Bodybuilding.com and its members because I am a spokesmodel for life. I am business owner, contest prep coach, personal trainer, fitness model and figure competitor. I feel I can relate to a very wide range of people and love spending time getting out there and providing diet tips, cooking videos and advice to many people! I know I can do this because I do this already...everyday! I never get tired of helping people because the more people I can inspire the more I am inspired in the process.

[ Q ] How do you stick to a New Year's resolution?

I make New Year's resolutions all throughout the year. I do not wait to start January 1st; I start to incorporate the resolution into my lifestyle right away. I like to incorporate one thing at a time until it becomes a habit before incorporating the next resolution. Slow and steady wins the race because adopting new healthy habits is what we are trying to achieve with resolutions. I am motivated by challenging myself so this helps me stick to each of my resolutions.

For example, a gentlemen in my office smokes, drinks soda and alcohol and eats candy and chips every day. He recently had a stroke and his Dr. told him he needed to live a healthier fit lifestyle. He is not the type who can quit cold turkey. I suggested he work on giving up one unhealthy habit a month. First month, just focus on quitting smoking and nothing else. A soon as he built the habit of not smoking then he can move on to no soda. The slow and steady approach is working really well for him.

[ Q ] How do you avoid temptation at a social gathering when you are on a diet?

One of the main things I think about when I want a cheat meal is, "There is someone out there working harder than me at the moment I think to cheat." This thought cancels many of my urges.

I bring my food with me and bring a cup of tea or coffee to sip on while at the party.

Depending on what type of diet I am on I will bring sliced cucumbers and celery sticks to use in place of chips for dip.

I will also volunteer to bring a few dishes I know I can have and stick to eating those.

[ Q ] Which BodySpace member inspires you the most?

This is a hard one - Jamie Eason is always my favorite but 032884's BodySpace has really inspired me since 2008. It has been motivating for me to watch her body make changes and then to see her on stage. She always shares her problems but talks about how she is fixing them and offers so much great advice. She never gives up and is a great asset to Bodybuilding.com.

[ Q ] How do you plan on inspiring others as a BodySpace Spokesmodel finalist?

I plan on taking time to blog about the good things I discover while getting ready for my show as well as writing about obstacles and how I overcome them. Take time to answer other BodySpace member questions. Be consistent with uploading progress pictures each week. I know this tool helps me so I will make sure I am consistent with uploading progress pictures. Trying new supplements and writing reviews.

Continue to encourage others by visiting their BodySpace profiles. And finally, by practicing what I preach.
