Why I Got Started
dot

I decided it was time to change because I always wanted to compete in a bodybuilding competition. I knew I was the heaviest I had ever been and knew it was time to stop not only being unhealthy but also stop being sloppy.

I had always claimed that I was bodybuilding, but it was time to show I would compete. I got started basically because I put my mind to the date of the show and knew I was going to be in front of a bunch of people and wanted to look the best I could.

Having a supportive girlfriend and friends helped quite a bit as well, not only keeping me motivated but also supplying me with information about dieting and training because I had never competed or dieted and I really didn't know what I was doing.

How I Did It

Right after New Years 2009, I started to just get in the habit of eating clean, counting calories, cutting out fast food completely, and trying to ignore the impulses to snack. The show was put on by the university I attend, Ball state, and the show was on the 23rd of April, so from the first day of January I had exactly 16 weeks to try and prepare myself.

At first, the diet I had come up with was working well, I started to lose weight and most importantly looked leaner. I kept doing the same diet for about 8-or-9 weeks and it kept working but it started to slow down and I knew that I no longer had the knowledge to get myself into any type of condition.

I got down from 17% to just under 12% by myself but knew it wasn't enough. I have a friend who was also dieting for the same show and he was making incredible changes each week and was being advised by an awsome guy who is a natural professional bodybuilder and has so much experience and knowledge.

My friend got me set up with him and I got started on a new diet 7 weeks out from the show. Getting advised and being shown how to change my diet really opened my eyes when it came to dieting. My body made changes so fast and I knew that I was in good hands.

Week by week I made decent improvements by dropping body fat and maintaining lean body weight, I followed the diet exactly and I was happy with all of the results. The diet changed little by little as the show came closer and my body got to the best condition it could get given the time frame.

I wouldn't have been able to do it if it wasn't for the friends and all of the advice and guidance, and for that I would like to send out a big THANK YOU!
