Did you know?
LDL stands for low-density lipoprotein and is a subcategory of cholesterol, typically thought of as the 'bad' cholesterol.
I wish I could say that I only stock up on Flintstones vitamins and owe the rest of my results to chicken and broccoli. However that simply is not the case. While food is extremely important athletes need more. Below is a top ten list for supplements.

I wish I could say that I only stock up on Flintstones vitamins and owe the rest of my results to chicken and broccoli. But choosing the right supplements has to be part of the equation, since many of the foods I eat don't give me the nutrients I need to achieve results. It would be nice if working out, eating and sleeping were all I need, but unfortunately I need my supplements to be able to have success at either "bulking" or "cutting".

Let me explain success for one minute. I know what you're thinking. What does my "Top 10 supplements" have to do with success? Well a lot actually - what does it mean to succeed in this lifestyle? Most people see success as being healthy and confident or powerful and muscular. Others see it as being at the top of their game and being able to stand out from the rest.

The knowledgeable ones see success in a more personal way; they see it as achieving the goals they have set for themselves, and then feeling pride and satisfaction in their accomplishments. True success is felt in the mind, body and soul. Becoming focused-determined and achieving the goals you set. For success in this lifestyle is reaching those set goals and becoming proud of what you have accomplished.

Most of these supplements are staples and some are goal specific. I have tried many different pills, powders and capsules. I have several tubs, containers and bottles that end up in my "supplements graveyard".

So I do know that wasting money on supplements is like. It is something like taking a hottie out to dinner and leaving you with no "happy ending". It's a horrible thing and nobody wants to waste money or time - we all desire that happy ending. Here is a list of the ones that I recommend to others and the ones that I use to reach my own personal goals.

1. Whey Protein

_ » Dymatize Elite Whey

When you're on a high protein diet it is very hard to get all the required protein from fish, steak & chicken.

I have several brands of whey protein that I rotate and use at different parts of the day, but this one always tends to be the one I depend on the most.

I really like the Butter Toffee flavor since it reminds me of the left over milk at the bottom of bowl of cereal.

2. Multi-vitamin

_ » AST Multi Pro 32X

It is nothing new that we all need some type of multi-vitamin. I like this brand because it is a tablet formed pill.

It also packs in quite a punch for what you get. I usually stock up for a six-month supply, since even though my diet is pretty solid.

There is no way that I can get the nutrients I need strictly from the foods in my fridge.

3. Essential Fatty Acids (EFA'S)

_ » HFS Flax Liquid Gold

I like to keep my diet high in EFA's for many reasons and not just because this stuff tastes good.

I usually take three tablespoons of this liquid gold a day. I just pour it in a measuring spoon and throw it down and chase it with some water.

4. L-Glutamine

_ » Higher Power L-Glutamine

I know a few people hate to waste there money on this, but I believe it's a must have because of its plethora of benefits.

I usually scoop out about 5g's four times a day.

There have been times in the past when I didn't add this to my supplement stack and I noticed more aching in my body.

5. Branch Chained Amino Acids (BCAA'S)

_ » Scivation Xtend

This is a great product and is one of only a few that I can say have given me results that are worth the cost. It includes Citrulline Malate which has some great NO2 benefits.

I like to drink it before, during and after my workouts. It is the only product that I have ever drank during a workout and my endurance and energy are noticeably stable.

I do add a few scoops to my gallon of water I drink throughout the day; to constantly give my body these amino acids.

6. Thermogenic - EC Stack

_ » Mega-Pro VasoPro

When I need to drop a couple pounds quick, I take this twice a day with caffeine once before my morning cardio and before my evening cardio.

I have found this to be a cheap & effective weight loss stack.

7. L. Carnitine

_ » NOW L-Carnitine

This is also a great supplement to use to increase the use of fat for energy and helps prevent the drop in testosterone caused my intense workouts.

I found taking this in high doses (4-5 grams a day) to be much more effective then what the label tells you to take.

8. R-ALA

_ » Avant Labs SesaThin
