Update: The judges see it 29-28 and 30-27 (twice) for Chuck Liddell. Congrats Chuck!
[ Q ] Chuck, this fight you have coming up with Wanderlei Silva is perhaps the most anticipated fight amongst the hardcore MMA fans in history. Even Dana White is visibly excited about this match as he has been trying to make it happen for years. I'm sure you are excited to finally get your shot at Wandy as well, have you ever had this kind of excitement for a fight?
[ A ] I have wanted this fight for a long time. This fight defines both of our futures in the sport. One guy is back in the mix while the other will be wondering what happened to his career.

Chuck lost his last two fights: Most recent loss to Keith Jardine at UFC 76 with a split decision and Quinton Jackson at UFC 71 with a knockout.

I Have Been Wanting This Fight
For A Long Time!
[ Q ] The hardcore fans know who Wanderlei is, but many of the people in America who have never watched Pride may not know him. He is known as being super aggressive while you are known as more of a counter-fighter. On paper it seems like a good match-up for you, do you agree?
[ A ] I do agree. I have been saying that for a long time. I like aggressive fighters who will come after me. I am a counter-fighter and his aggression should play right into that.
[ Q ] Originally, Dana tried to make this fight when both you and Wanderlei were champions, but the deal was never done then. Are you a bit disappointed that the fight between you two ended up not being a title fight? Or are you just excited to fight him regardless?
[ A ] I just want to fight. It's not about the title. I was calling him out years ago. Sure, I would love to get the title back, but for me it's more about the fight itself.
[ Q ] Both Wanderlei and you are coming off of two consecutive losses. If it's possible for you to be objective, who do you feel needs a win more at this point?
[ A ] Obviously we both need it, but I would say that Wanderlei needs it more. He is just starting to fight in the U.S. and a lot of fans here don't know much about him. This would really help his career in the U.S.

Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva is a Muay Thai style fighter from Brazil with a record of 37 wins, 7 losses and 1 draw.
[ Q ] What are your thoughts on Randy leaving the UFC, possibly to fight Fedor Emelianenko? Any thoughts on the outcome of that potential fight?
[ A ] Randy obviously knows what he wants. I think if it happens, it's going to be a war.
[ Q ] You were a coach on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) where your fighter, Forrest Griffin won the light heavyweight division of the show. Now Forrest is going to be a coach on TUF 7 and fight opposing coach, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson for the light heavyweight belt. Do you think Forrest will make a good coach and how do you see the fight between him and Rampage going?
[ A ] I have trained with Forrest several times since the show and have seen how far he has come. I think he will be a great coach. Forrest is always entertaining! As far as their fight, anything can happen. I have seen more than a few upsets so I wouldn't count Forrest out. He has a hell of a chin and can really throw.
[ Q ] Have you changed your training at all for this fight and can you give us a brief overview of your training?
[ A ] We are brushing up on defense a little, but overall it's business as usual.
[ Q ] Do you utilize any nutritional strategies to help maximize performance when you are preparing for a fight? Can you give us a brief overview of your daily nutrition plan?
[ A ]I have a guy who cooks for me a week in advance. I pack all of my meals in a cooler when I travel. I eat 6-7 small meals daily as well as a protein shake after each training session.
[ Q ] Do you take any supplements and if yes, which ones?
[ A ] Yes. Supplements have always been a really big part of my training regimen. I have been working with Matt Gaines at Shocker Nutrition on my supplements for about 8 years. He works with my fight team as well as Tim Sylvia and some other top UFC guys. Most of the products in the Shocker line were designed around my style of training. In training for this fight I am on a very specific stack.
- N.O.EXTREME - 3 Gelcaps and NitroShock (wildberry)
before each of my 2-3 daily training sessions.
- AlphaMale Men's Multi-Vitamin - 2 capsules with breakfast.
- Glutamine AKG - 2 Gelcaps after each training session.
- Liquid Glucosamine Chondroitin & MSM - 2 oz. daily.
- EXTREME ENERGY - as needed.
- Lean Protein MRP and Complex Carbs 2 scoops each 2 X daily.
- I just added BetaShock - with beta-alanine and Kre-Alkalyn pre-workout as well.
