Somebody who has been absent from the Arnold Classic favorites ballot is the biggest and baddest bodybuilder in the world - Markus Ruhl. The German giant finished 8th in the Mr. Olympia last year and in many people's eyes he was as overlooked as a Porky Pig on "America's next top model." The crowd will be bellowing Ruuuuhhhl when he walks onto the creaking Columbus stage, and if his daunting silhouette that shadows his competition is in rock hard shape, even the stiffest competition will go as limp as a geriatric on a low carb diet.
The Markus Ruhl that showed up at the Night Of the Champions in '98 and '99 was as hard as they come and if he could repeat the formula that mixed that formidable cocktail, he could take out targets like a firing squad who have just been told that their mummies teeth are so yellow they could butter a loaf of bread. Ruhl has made it be known that the Mr. Olympia title has never been his public enemy number one to terrorize and that nobody on this earth have the tools to dismantle the 8 times champ Ronnie Coleman. The big nasty Coleman has been beaten by Cutler and this leaves the door of opportunities open enough for guys like the German giant to step through.
The number one title that everybody knows Ruhl has been after is the Arnold Classic. If he manages to tighten his back, glutes and hamstrings to match his freaky front and side poses, we could be watching Bodybuilding.com's live web cast witness another threat to the Arnold Classic crown.
The chink in Ruhl's amour will be the slight pec tear he seemed to pick up whilst shopping in the bench press department last year. It was first exposed in the Spanish G.P. and was made obvious to the world at the Olympia a week later, but the departed muscle only seemed to localize on the inside left pec and is only seen on a couple of his poses.
The new mandate the judges have installed this year to the mandatory round only request poses that the athlete feels best represents their physique. With the adjusted round in place Ruhl will have the chance to showcase his monster lat, chest and crab poses whilst hiding the poses that object to his pec tear.
When Ruhl is standing on the Columbus stage it will look as if he is taking school children on a family outing. Why not join Markus and the rest of us for Arnold Classic joy ride.
