I got tired of being overweight and having no endurance or strength, I looked at my Hawaii vacation pictures and decided that there was no reason for me to be in the shape I was in. Now I am hooked and can't imagine not doing it. I like being truly fit for the first time in my life
First I joined a gym and started hitting weights and doing cardio, I trained without direction for a while, but with all the resources available here on Bodybuilding.com from articles to forums (especially the Over age 35 forum) I started learning about nutrition, supplementation and training routines to help me get better results than I had ever seen.
During the mass gaining months I eat more than this but during my fat loss time my typical diet is like this:
Post Workout: Mid Morning: Noon: Mid Noon: Dinner: Night: The main key for me during fat loss is to eliminate processed carbohydrates, like sugars and white flours, while keeping my protein intake fairly high.
I do a 5 day split Monday - Friday focusing on major muscle groups, I hit the gym (Somerset Athletic Club) at 6:00 am in the morning.
I also do 3 - 5 days of cardio which is medium intensity elliptical for 20-30 minutes. And some abdominal work a couple times a week
Don't get caught in the trap of thinking that because you're over 30 or 40 that it can't be done, these are the prime years for changing our bodies, because we are usually more disciplined than we were when we were younger. Start learning and start working hard and sticking to a nutrition program and you will get the results you desire.
