This winter has been a rough one for Denverites. Snowstorm after snowstorm - you'd swear we were residing in Anchorage and not Denver, Colorado. I ventured out in the snowstorm to meet up with Heather but it wasn't meant to be, so we rescheduled for the following day.
The weather cooperated with us and we were able to meet up at Mahany's gym in Aurora, Colorado. This is another popular gym for bodybuilders in the Denver Metro area and the gym fellow IFBB Pro Phil Heath often trains at. Training at a gym other than your own can sometimes offer a better workout because of a different environment but it can also present some challenges when you're not used to the equipment.
Heather was feeling a bit "off" when we met up for her arm training. Most of us would take her "off" day any day of the week. The weather has been taking it's toll on her but despite the challenge she got after it with her bicep and tricep training. Heather stressed at this point in the contest prep that she isn't looking to add size, but simply tighten up and bring out the definition of her arms. Heather does high reps and lower weights as to not injure herself. She rotates from bicep to tricep exercises and at the end of the workout she practiced her mandatory poses.
Heather started out with dumbbell curls, then to skull crushers, moved on to cable curls, over to seated tricep pushdowns, back to a seated bicep machine and finished it off with cable pushdowns.
Heather is on track to make a strong showing for her pro debut. You can follow Heather's training with the video clips here and check out her progress in the photos.
