  • Anderson, Tatiana
Tatiana was named after a Russian Princess and this is how her fairytale life began. Shortly after she was born in Las Palmas, Gran Canary Islands, Spain, her family moved to America. She started twirling a baton at the young age of 3. By the age of 9, she retired as a World Champion Baton Twirler with over 150 trophies. She grew up as a active kid involved in cheerleading, pep squad, drill team and beauty pageants. At the age of 14, she became certified to teach aerobics, not realizing that fitness would become her passion and profession. At the age of 18, she became one of the youngest professional cheerleaders with the USFL Houston Gamblers. In 1994 - 1995, when the NBA Houston Rockets won the world championship, guess who was there cheering them on. You are right, Tatiana, and she has a championship ring to prove it! Another great cheerleading experience came with the NFL Denver Broncos in 1996.

As if that was not exciting enough, Tatiana has had an equally exciting fitness career. Teaching aerobics since 14, she made her first career move to aerobic director at the elite resort in Houston, The Houstonian. The Sans Souci Hotel & Spa in Jamaica was not only a career move as the Spa Director but the first away from home experience. Watching cruise ships sail in and out of port gave Tatiana her next goal. For three years, Tatiana sailed the seas as a fitness director with the Cunard Cruise Lines. Tatiana's last cruise was a three month around-the-world journey. She saw places one would only read or dream about. From riding camels in Egypt to donkeys in Greece; from scuba diving in the Caribbean Islands to parasailing in the French Rivera; from a safari in the jungles of Africa to walking the streets of Jerusalem.

Since entering her first beauty pageant at the age of five, Tatiana has always enjoyed competition. She held the title of Ms. Petite Texas, Ms. Texas Fitness and Ms. National Fitness. In the Ms. Fitness USA, she was 1st runner up and in the Ms. Fitness World, she was 2nd runner up Now retired, Tatiana trains other competitors in all aspects of competition. Owning her own business, Pageant Personified, she consults competitors all over the world in nutrition, supplementation, workouts, wardrobe, hair and make up, stage presentation and choreography. She is also busy with personal appearances, infomercials, hosting fitness competitions and promoting her book, "Step by Step Guide to Fitness Competition Success". Tatiana has been featured in many magazines including Ironman, Oxygen, Muscle Media, Ms. Fitness and has co-hosted ESPN2 Kiana's Flex Appeal, along with hosting the Ms. Fitness World Competitions.

When I was one year old, my parents moved our family to Port Arthur, Texas, where I was raised, except for the brief year and a half we resided in the Middle East. Yes... in case you were wondering how I got my exotic looks, my father is from Baghdad, and my mother is Czech. My father, now retired, is a cardiovascular surgeon and a talented sculptor. My mother, an avid equestrian and breeder of Arabian horses, had me riding at the tender age of 4. A nature girl at heart, I love all God's creatures, especially animals.

After graduating from college with a degree in (believe it or not) dental hygiene, I moved to Northern California, where I first got involved in serious fitness training. Two and a half years had passed, and homesick for Texas, I moved to Dallas and began swimsuit modeling and competing in bikini contests. I won several swimsuit titles, lots of cash, prizes, trips, and even a car. My hard work and training had finally paid off. I realized that my physique had advanced to competition level, so upon the urging of some of my friends and family, I decided to try my luck in a fitness show. I submitted my photo and resume' to the promoter of the Fitness America Pageant. As a result, I was invited to compete in the National Championships that year. I won the physique round, but placed only ninth overallq6y in the pageant. I enjoyed competing that first year, and began to feel confident that I had a chance at the title. At the same time, the fitness community started to take notice of me. A scout from Muscle and Fitness took a shine to me and as they say, the rest is history. The following year I competed again, and finished as first runner up. Fiercely competitive by nature and more determined than ever before, I kicked up my routine that next year, and became the Fitness America National Champion!

Competing in fitness has opened many doors for me. It has launched my acting career, enabled me to become an entrepreneur, but most importantly has helped me to inspire others to achieve their personal fitness goals. Guest appearances, modeling, and acting have taken me to all corners of the world: Hong Kong, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Guam, and even Lebanon! My career has brought me many adventuresome and exciting times. I have been blessed with good friends, loyal fans and especially a loving family. I wouldn't trade any of them for the world!

  • Friend, Angel
I grew up in a small town in central Pennsylvania called Lewisberry. As a child, my older sister and two older brothers were always involved in sports. When I was 5, I began taking ballet, dance, and baton twirling. By age 10, I was competing in baton all over the East Coast. I also took gymnastics for a short while, but then switched to baton when it became too costly. I continued to learn gymnastics by trying new skills in my yard or by breaking in the furniture ( not a technique I would recommend to anyone ). In high school I got back into gymnastics and started competing at age 17 for Central PA Academy of Gymnastics. I couldn't get enough of it and I worked out with both the high school team and the club team. After graduation from high school I attended West Chester University in West Chester, PA. Things were going well, and I continued to progress as a gymnast very quickly. Then, just one week out prior to our first meet of my junior season, I tore my ACL and cartilage in my left leg while dismounting from Bars. As part of my rehab program from surgery I was given several leg exercises which I practiced in the football weight room. I responded quickly to the training and was back on track for the senior season when I tore more cartilage in my knee just one week prior to our first meet ( Again!). Following graduation, I decided that I was dissatisfied with ending my gymnastics career on such a low note. I moved to Ocean City, Maryland, seeking a teaching job and found my way to the nearest gym to get into shape. It was there that I met Chuck Gochnour and Jule Mussell at Mussell & Fitness Gym on 1st street in O.C. Chuck trained me several times a week and taught me how to make gains through consistent training. ( All the while he encouraged me to try my hand at competitive bodybuilding ). In 1997 I moved to College Park, MD and began teaching at a school just outside of Washington, DC. While working out at Olympus Gym in Silver Spring, I met IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Susan Myers. Sue helped me to train for my first bodybuilding show, the 1997 Body Rock Classic. I placed 2nd as a lightweight and took the Best Poser award. After the show, Sue introduced me to Nutrition Guru, Todd Swinney. Todd helped me to learn about an amazing part of my now daily diet, "PROTEIN"! It was Todd who encouraged me to try fitness. (This was the ultimate chance for me to finish my "gymnastics" career on a high note). My first fitness show was the 1998 Maryland State Bodybuilding Championships. Although I only placed 2nd, I was hooked! She had knee reconstruction surgery in February 1999.

Before she entered fitness contests, Angel was in a bodybuilding contest in 1997, and finished second place in the lightweight division. • Hartt, Kim
Kim Hartt was born and raised in Canada spending the majority of her life on the West coast of Canada near the Great Canadian Rockies. Being from the North it is no surprise that Kim Hartt's competitive nature stemmed from her years of figure skating in St.Albert, AB. After Kim attained her goals of attaining her Gold Level Tests in figure skating, she moved on to her next challenge in life when she was accepted into the Physical Therapy program in the faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta. She graduated in the spring of 1994 at the top of her class earning her BScPT in Rehabilitation Medicine.

Kim launched her Physical Therapy career in the small town of Carlsbad, New Mexico in July of 1994. Kim specialized in the field of outpatient orthopedics where she worked with many athletic/sports related injuries. It was Kim's relocation to Florida in September of 1995 where Kim discovered her love and passion for weight training and fitness and the true meaning of living a healthy, fit lifestyle. Her competitive bug from her competitive figure skating days came back in the form of the new popular growing arena of fitness competitions for women.

Starting from scratch, with no background experience in this field, Kim's body fat was an average 24% at 120 pounds and her main activity was aerobic classes at least 3 - 4 nights a week. Her legs were developed from her past figure skating days but she lacked any kind of muscle tone or strength at all in her upper body. A single push up was difficult for her and she lacked any kind of lower extremity flexibility that was required in these fitness competitions. This did not discourage her however, as she knew if she could write down some goals and a definite plan to achieve these goals she could do whatever she set out to accomplish.

In her very first year of competing, through trial and error, Kim managed to accomplish her first goal in fitness of winning the "Ms. Fitness Florida State Champion" Title in June of 1996. This was only the beginning. From here Kim went on to compete in the obstacle course competitions such as Ms. Galaxy, Lifequest Triple Crown, and The Ironwomen Tri-Fitness Contests. Although these competitions were challenging and she came out on top, her love and passion still remained in performing and entertaining an audience with her dynamic, high energy routines. This again stemmed from her figure skating history of performing in front of arenas filled with people surrounding the ice rink who came to be entertained by these dynamic, high energy routines only in a different form.

After two years of competing and learning the ropes of the fitness competitions and how to come out on top, Kim began to climb higher on her ladder of success with a runner-up placement at the Debbie Kruck Classic in May of 1998. Debbie Kruck has been Kim's mentor and good friend throughout her fitness career, and by guiding her with her years of experience in the industry she has been a motivating force driving Kim up higher on that ladder of success.

In 1999, Kim made a switch in careers to the entertainment industry to star in a TV series that was filmed out of Orlando, FL. The relocation to a bigger center allowed Kim the access to a winning support team that she put together to help her to achieve her next big goal of attaining her Pro Status in Fitness. With much determination and tremendous support Kim came in the best conditioned shape of her life at the USAs in CA in July of 1999,but with extremely stiff competition did not attain her goal, but did crack the top five, ending up in fourth place overall. A week later at the Team Universe in New York City Kim was disappointed yet again by missing her Pro Card by one point, finishing in third place. Although it was a struggle, Kim has never been one to give up; she had set out a goal for this year and nothing was going to get her down or stop her from achieving it. Two months later, Kim came back, working through a torn rotator cuff muscle injury and victoriously attained her Pro Status in front of a home crowd in Orlando, FL at Nationals (the biggest amateur event of the year no less).

Now at the Professional Fitness Level Kim wants to take the opportunity to share all of her winning secrets from her experiences that will help to motivate and encourage everyone and anyone who has the desire to follow their dreams and accomplish their fitness goals.

Born January 2, 1971 in Oslo, Norway. Married Andre Nielsen; Divorced 2000. Height 5'6". Currently lives in Culver City, California.

I was born in Oslo, Norway on a cold winter morning. I'm the only child but not spoiled (not too much, anyway...). I have always had animals in my life including a rabbit, 2 guinea pigs, and two dogs. I just love animals, and hopefully they love me as well. I come from a steady family. My parents have been married for 27 years, and my grandparents have been together for a lifetime. I think that's a good way for a child to grow up, because there are way too many divorced parents these days. Our family has always been very close to nature. We always went camping, fishing, boating, swimming etc. I remember when I was 5 years old, and my father taught me to swim. I was so proud, and just loved it. When I turned 9, I joined a local swimming team and got hooked! I made quick progress, and started to win major contests. I made it to the National team, and earned lots of medals, until one day I just got "sick" of it all.... I guess it was the pressure from trainers, and maybe the interests of the opposite sex that made me quit at age 16.

But, that didn't mean that I didn't like the joy of working out. The very next day, I joined a gym close to my home. I liked the feeling of being my "own boss", and to go to my workouts whenever it suited me best. No pressure from trainers, and specific times to train. I guess I've always been pretty much independent by growing up as an only child, and that is probably why I've only been in individual sports. I guess I got a lot of inspiration from my mother, because she had been training with weights for years, and she even competed as one of the first women in a Norwegian bodybuilding show. Both my parents are still working out, and they enjoy my achievements in the fitness industry. I entered a couple of bodybuilding shows myself (3 of them) and did pretty well. Even so, I didn't feel too comfortable just getting bigger and bigger. I turned into fitness instead. I did my first fitness competition in 1995, and placed 5th in the Norwegian Championship. The top 5 got an invitation to compete as a pro, since the show was held in Norway. I was so excited, and couldn't believe that I was going to be on stage with many of the girls I only had seen and looked up to from the magazines!
