Greg Sims

Background

Greg Sims was born and raised in the dynamic beach culture of Southern California. From an early age, Sims was heavily influenced visually by Hollywood cinema, beach life and the incredible visual carnival of SoCal.

Sims once considered himself a "photographic purist." He mastered the art of manipulating film exposure, development and printing. With the introduction of digital imagery in the late 90s, Sims realized that with a highly-evolved skill set and enough imagination, any concept could be beautifully produced. He has tirelessly pursued this idea ever since.

Sims' art is the aesthetic culmination of the visual influences of his life immersed in creating images. With his mastery of digital capture and manipulation, he is capable of creating images that are totally unique. Sims' photographs subtly nudge reality. His rich, saturated palette creates drama and motion, somehow merging reality with his hyper-real vision.

Greg has received numerous awards over his career including two Kodak Gallery Awards, and most recently, the prestigious Photo District News PIX DIGITAL AWARD in 2007 and 2008 in the advertising and travel categories and two PDN Shot Sport awards in 2010. Greg also has two pieces in the permanent collection at the Epcot Center for Photography.

Greg is an active member of the world photographic community and lives in Boise, Idaho, with his family. He co-owns the commercial photography studio Tri-Digital Group with business partner Jim Armstrong. To witness the work, visit the website: http://www.tri-digitalgroup2.com/
