An in-depth look at the training and nutrition plan that put Jay Cutler back on top at the 2009 Mr. Olympia. Here's an excerpt from the March issue of Flex!
 Reconstruction Of A Champion
- Subject: Jason Cutler
- Age: 36
- Height: 5'9"
- Starting Weight: 290 pounds
- Projected Contest Weight: 270 pounds
- Mission: Reclaim The Olympia title
After two less-than-stellar performances on the Olympia stage - in 2007 and 2008, the latter of which resulted in him losing his title - Jay Cutler knew that if things were to change in 2009, he had to change, as well. So he did.
The main change? Enlisting the help of trainer/nutritionist Hany Rambod, who brought a new style of training to Cutler's attention, plus a revised approach to his nutrition. The result? Arguably the best Cutler physique of all time, a third Sandow and a historic achievement, as Cutler became the first to reclaim the Olympia title.
On the pages that follow, you'll find the blueprint, courtesy of Rambod, the man who helped him do it.
The Gold Standard: 2001 Olympia
Rambod: "This is the benchmark we were aiming for. His midsection was tight, shoulders were wide and capped, and his flaring quads were separated all the way up into his hips. His back was the widest and thickest it's ever been. Overall, great size with a tremendous X frame and a crisp, dry look."
Off The Mark: 2008 Olympia
Rambod: "If Jay had come out in prejudging looking like he did for the finals, he would have won. Based on pictures from that contest, conditioning was a prime factor, as he lacked the details that a Mr. Olympia absolutely needs. He also needed better taper and overall fullness."
