[ Q ] Tell us a little about yourself. What is your position at BB.com? How long have you worked here?
I have been an employee at Bodybuilding.com since last December as a Project Coordinator to assist in the completion of major projects for the company as a whole. It is an awesome position, and has allowed me to learn so much about the company in a short amount of time and be a part of huge accomplishments and milestones we have met over the last few months.
[ Q ] What was your workout/fitness/nutrition level before working at BB.com?
7 years ago, one of my best friends who was a "gym junkie" asked me to join the gym with him and train. I saw how much he enjoyed it and how great he looked and decided to give it a try. I ended up loving it! I was there every other day and doing cardio on the other days for almost 2 years, and was in the best shape of my life! It not only gave me the body I wanted, but also relieved the stress from the day, and gave me more energy to take on whatever came my way. At the end of that period I ended up moving to San Diego from Lewiston, a small city in Northern Idaho. A couple months after moving there my friend that encouraged me and helped get my mojo back through working out, tragically drowned. Almost one month later exactly, my father also passed away from brain cancer. I was not only thousands of miles away from family in a huge new city, but without my motivator that would call me every week to see how I was doing, and a father that was excited to see his daughter taking such good care of her health. I hadn't been a regular attendee of a gym or exercise since.
My diet was not horrible, I guess, because I rarely buy items like chips, soda, or like to eat sweets, which is maybe what saved me from gaining much weight, but I did have a slight cheese obsession and ate it on practically everything, every day. I would also indulge in my favorite foods way more often than I do now - Mexican and Italian - which just happen to have cheese on practically everything on the menu!

My diet has definitely changed. It is a lot cleaner, includes supplements, I actually cook and eat less cheese.

[ Q ] What supplements have helped you reach your goals?
My diet did not consist of much protein, so now I drink a Gold Standard 100% Natural Whey Shake to help balance out the carbs. I also like the Vanilla Almondilla Vega Shake which also consists of not only protein, but 2 servings of veggies.

[ Q ] How does the Bodybuilding.com environment influence your health, fitness and appearance goals?
Because I believe in what the company stands for in helping people reach their fitness goals, and living a healthy life style, I feel I should represent it through my own actions and appearance. The company makes it so easy for me to get back into the shape I want to be in that I am encouraged on a daily basis to train and eat well.
[ Q ] What are your co-workers like?
The outgoing, positive attitudes and humor galore has made these people not only co-workers but friends. I so enjoy being able to get to know them and share life stories. I sit in a place where I get to see a lot of people throughout my day and each of them brings a smile to my face. If I ever need anything, I know they will be there for me and dependable, as I am for them. There are so many people here of very different lifestyles and it is fun to see all the bikers, skiers, runners, and hikers getting together and motivating each other to reach their goals.
[ Q ] Did someone from Bodybuilding.com inspire you to reach your goals?
As we all know, Bodybuilding.com offers to pay for your monthly membership if you go a minimum of 10 times per month. I thought this would be my chance to push myself and join a gym. I no longer had the excuse of not enough time, or I can't afford it. Ten times? Easy Schmeasy! Still I didn't go. It was now unfamiliar territory that I hadn't walked on for some time, although I had an aching to get back in there. I ended up being introduced to a fellow employee, Levi Bettwieser. He not only became a good friend, but Personal Trainer! Matt Biss was sweet enough to measure my body fat percentage, and that was when I found out I had more work to do than I thought.
Having access to supplements, a gym membership, and a trainer who cared about getting my glutes to the gym, I became friends again with the smell of sweat, the gritting of my teeth, and sore muscles that were finally awakened after a 5 year hibernation. I then saw an email go out from Ryan DeLuca doing a highlight feature of a fellow employee because of their fitness example, and I thought, if I work hard enough, that could be me. I was off on my journey to not only get myself into shape, but to get back to the place I so enjoyed being - full of positive energy, being comfortable in my own skin, and healthy.
There are so many people here that are passionate about training - Levi is at the gym practically every day, eats very well and has discipline like no other. If he has a goal, he does what he can to reach that goal and sticks it through. Maria is going to be running 50 miles in a race - 50 miles! That takes dedication and hard work. There are other employees here that have health issues similar to mine whether it be breathing or heart problems, and they are still out there pushing themselves. These people are inspiring me every day and are great examples of where I would like to be.

But To Get Back To The Place I So Enjoyed Being.
[ Q ] Have you inspired others with your new look and attitude?
People have come up to me to ask what I have been doing to tone my biceps and get tips for their own workout regimen. It feels good to know people see a difference and are actually coming to me for advice!
[ Q ] What is your favorite feature on the BB.com website?
I actually have two - BodySpace because of the people on there that encourage me, and don't even know me! And the SuperSite to get tips on new exercises since I know what needs to be worked on, but now always what exercises to do to target those areas. Plus, I like to switch up exercises for each body part.
[ Q ] How does BB.com help to motivate/support you?
Bodybuilding.com is an awesome company. Not only do they have great incentives, but they support their employees to get out in the community and raise funds for all kinds of outreaches. There are opportunities that come up almost monthly for runs/walks in the area that Bodybuilding.com is willing to back up their employees and pay for them to go. A short list of what I have been able to be a part of are - Komen Race for the Cure, St. Lukes Women's 5k, and coming up the Leukemia and Lymphoma walk. They are giving back to not just the local community, but society.

I believe it does. If you are passionate about what you do in and out of the office, it will reflect in the work you do day to day. You are able to understand not only the products that we sell, but the mission of helping people reach their goals of be healthier and fit.
[ Q ] What are your future goals? Do you think working for BB.com will help you reach them?
My main goal is to live a healthy lifestyle and to maintain a fit body. I am in my 30's now, and know that at some point I can no longer rely on a great metabolism, and need to make sure I put in the effort through eating the right foods and exercising on a regular basis. The environment of Bodybuilding.com, the vast amount of knowledge and motivation will definitely continue to help me reach this goal!
