Every time we hold our annual employee transformation challenge, we are pleasantly surprised by the intensity shown by our colleagues.

Earlier this year, Brian Kahn put together a physical package that made him our 2012 male winner.

Brian cut 13 pounds during the challenge and lost nearly 10 percent body fat. But we aren't spotlighting Brian for what he did in 12 weeks last winter. He is here because he has continued to embody the beliefs and virtues that our company holds most dear.

Brian, we congratulate you as September's Fit Employee of the Month!

Tell us a little about yourself. What is your position at How long have you worked here? How has your life changed since you started?

Hola! I'm the Creative Director of Digital Publishing and have been since October 2011. My life has changed dramatically since I started, by moving from Los Angeles to Boise. This is a huge change in culture, weather, and life for me.

What was your workout/fitness/nutrition level before working at

Everything was spot-on! I came from a bodybuilding background, lifting 8-10 reps for four sets—never changing it up. Cardio? Hahaha. What cardio? I'm trying to gain size, man! Everyone knows you never do cardio. Nutrition? I drink protein shakes and take vitamins. It was pretty much golden.

You are a recent transplant to Boise. What types of fitness activities have you found in the city? What activities do you miss from your past locales?

The best activities I have found in the city are drinking at the bars and wandering aimlessly around the streets. When you leave downtown, you have the foothills to hike in, the greenbelt to ride on, the river to float on, and lakes and mountains to go camping and skiing.

The activities I miss the most from my past locales are the beach, riding bikes on the beach path in Venice, going to killer clubs, amazing restaurants,
and traveling to different cities that are within driving distance (Santa Barbara, San Diego, Huntington Beach, Laguna, etc.).

What is it like working at Does it
create a helpful fitness environment?

Working at is great. It's not
every day you have the ability to help people

health, fitness and appearance goals?

What are your co-workers like?

I work with Batman. He's very mysterious. The others are much more sociable. We have a fun group!

Did someone from inspire you to reach your goals?

I wouldn't say anyone in particular but rather our company.

Have you inspired others with your new look and attitude?

I think I have! After my transformation I had friends contact me telling me I inspired them to finish their diets and workouts. Just last night, I had a friend post a progress pic getting ready for a show. They told me they had to keep up with me!
