Here it comes again, the holiday season. It starts with the nightmare known as Halloween, then after about thirty days of dieting, you can blow it all on Thanksgiving, if you make it past that, you have Christmas, then only a week later is New Years Eve. The whole thing is geared towards making you fat and unhappy come February. Taking the right steps now can save you a ton of cardio and thermos later. Consider the first problem that most of us have is making concessions to the rest of the world. First off, you have to say the heck with them. Trying to make the whole world happy is nuts and have you seen Martha Stewart's abs?
You are doing it right and the majority of the population can't get off the couch except for one magical night out of the year called Halloween. So here is your grand opportunity to preach your way of life. Thanks to modern technology we have the best sugar-free candy available to us today. STOP THE SAME OLD TRADITION. Dove candy even comes in sugar free and a quick look on the internet will quickly assist you with making the change to low carb treats. Think about it, if you pass out sugar free candy, the kids are likely to at least try it and so what if you are known as the "health nut" in the neighborhood who passes out sugar-free candy, it is better than being a fat pig right? Consider that all the kids with diabetes at least have your house to go to. Now if you are making some special treats for the kids at school, try using fruits as sweeteners or follow some of the recipes provided by Ginger Redeker.
Obviously you can't wrap up every little treat for the kids coming to your door without having homeland security paying you a visit, but for school functions they are a blast. Wait until someone ask for the recipe and then unveil the fact that they are sugar free. Please note that I don't suggest giving kids sugar or artificial sweetener, but if you must always do either in moderation. In addition, even though the Center For Disease Control, National Cancer Institute, Food and Drug Administration, and the National Institute of Health; have all stated that all artificial sweeteners are safe. Let's stop for a moment and realize that if you put three pounds of anything in your body per week, it is likely to have a negative effect on you. The main point here is that those early studies showing cancer in rats and brain tumors where false and the studies were... well they were BullS#!*. The fact is some of us are going to cheat and eat anything from a bite to a bag full of candy. First off, don't freak out! Running to the toilet and gagging yourself will result in more damage than anything related to what you ate. Take the proper steps to avoid the temptation and instead of inspecting the kids candy, take it in a sealed bag to your local chiropractor or other x-ray facility and have them zap the treats. It is not going to kill the kids to have a small dose of radiation exposed to the bag of candy, they get more rads from sitting in front of the TV.
Taking a ton of thermals is likely to just cause more problems - and even though I tell you not to, you will anyway, don't jump on the treadmill for six hours to burn the calories. Consider that running for two hours is likely to burn about 400 calories and that equals a bagel or two candy bars. The trade off is likely to result in more muscle loss than anything, so just avoid the junk. If you have to cheat, do so after a leg workout (less then 10 minutes). At the end of an intense workout, your body is hot and burning calories faster than ever. It is like a hot diesel engine, that will likely burn anything, and your muscles are likely to burn off the excess calories easier after a workout. Drinking water will allow you to flush your system quicker and the more water you drink, the better the flush will be.
