Post-Olympia Interview With Figure Competitor Jane Awad.

Figure competitor, Jane Awad, says her second Olympia showing was a great experience, and she was happy with her presentation overall. She plans to be back in 2007 to improve on her 2006 result.

At this years show, won by Jenny Lynn, Jane placed 16th. Her goal now is to re-evaluate her strategy with her trainer Kim Oddo to improve her "overall package" for next year's event. On the weekend Jane looked great onstage as she competed against a very strong field of athletes.

She stacked up well, but feels there was room for improvement, an assertion reinforced by her placing. Jane showed us at the 2006 Olympia that she is a great talent. Will 2007 be her year to prevail?

[ Q ] Describe your Olympia experience?

This was my second figure Olympia and it was again a great experience. This year I was a little more relaxed coming into the show. I did not feel the pressure that I had felt from last years show. I had a great time at Meet the Olympians as well as at the gala. It is nice to mix with the other competitors and fans and friends that come to watch us compete.

[ Q ] What was the final week of preparation like?

My final week of preparation was very busy. Since the opening of my personal training studio (Train With Jane) I never seem to have any spare time.

[ Q ] Were you happy with your physique and presentation on the night?

I recently started training with Kim Oddo and I felt that he brought me in very tight and small. I was happy with my presentation and physique, but I also know that there is always room for improvement. That is what we are going to do in the off-season, improve!

[ Q ] For you, what was the most positive part of competing in this show?

Having Kim Oddo around to keep me calm and relaxed. It totally changes your experience when your mindset is good. Thank you Kim!

[ Q ] What was the worst part?

None of it; It was all great. I would have liked the show to be a one-day show but that is out of our hands.

[ Q ] What areas do you feel you will improve on before your next show?

We will be working to improve my total overall package for the 2007 Arnold.

[ Q ] How does competing in the Olympia compare to participating in other shows?

The Olympia is such an amazing event. There is so much excitement around the entire show. I love going to Vegas for this event. The bigger the event the more I rise to the occasion.

[ Q ] What are your competition plans now? Will you aim to contest next years Olympia?

I will be competing in the 2007 Arnold Classic and hope to finish in the top placing's to qualify for the 2007 Olympia.
