Why I Got Started
Marzia Prince was in the middle of writing a book and needed a transformation story. I offered myself without thinking twice. She wanted to do a 120-day transformation of a middle aged woman and a mom. I was tired of being "skinny fat."
It grossed me out every time I would sit down and my tummy would roll over or you could see the love handles on the side. I had never worked with a personal trainer, so all of this was something new to me!
I would go to the gym here and there, but I would still pig out, but I justified eating by walking or lifting a little weight. It doesn't matter how big or little you are, it has everything to do with what you do with your body and what you put in it.
How I Did It
I got real strict on my intake the first month. Marzia and I would work with weights 3-4 days per week in the morning. At night I would do an hour of cardio 5-6 days per week. I kept a food journal of my daily food intake and logged all of my workouts.
This holds "YOU" accountable for what you eat and do during the day. My big thing was "I loved wine." With doing homework with the kids and cooking dinner, it seemed to be a daily habit. Now my drink of choice is either hot green tea with Stevia or sparkling water.
With all of this excitement and achievement, I will be in two-page ad for Gaspari Nutrition. This will be in Oxygen Magazine in a couple months, along with other fitness magazines.
I did my first competition on August 16 at the Europa. It was the Hot "Fit Mom" Contest sponsored by Cougar Energy Drink for Women. I did not win, but I will be their spokesmodel.
This is an exciting opportunity for me with a brand new company. I'm going to be a Star! I'm addicted to competing now. I will be doing another one in October. Wish me luck!
I would also make lean stuffed bell peppers or lean meatloaf. To curb my appetite at night I drink hot green tea with Stevia Lots of water too!
3-4 days a week Marzia would train me with weights we would do 3-4 sets. We would rotate lower body one day, upper body another day and/or core and full body. 5-6 days a week I would do one hour of cardio at my gym.
I would rotate all the conditioning machines: treadmill, bike and elliptical. Sometimes I would do an hour on one or I would rotate 20/20/20. Before the end of my transformation, I started to incorporate some classes at the gym. This would really spice things up!
Suggestions For Others
My first month I lost 10 pounds. I took out all wine (which I drank every night) and all white bread and chips. I was a big snacker and loved food!
I guess being a 36-year-old mom and wife, I felt comfortable where I was in my life. I was PTA President of my children's school, volunteer and substitute teacher. I was taking care of everyone else but me! So all of the ladies and moms out there get off the couch and bring sexy back!
