Background

I am currently a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association who resides in northern New Jersey. I have earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Science with a concentration in Dietetics from Montclair State University and I am currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Science at the same institution.

I was always the shortest and skinniest kid in my class for the majority of my life, which naturally meant I was picked on quite a bit. I graduated high school standing 5'10" and weighing only 140 pounds. My first motive in the gym was to gain size to hopefully increase self-confidence. The gym was an intimidating place to me at first, as I was surrounded by people much larger and stronger than myself. I was also fairly clueless. Like most newcomers, I blasted the arms every day for a few hours.

Eventually through plenty of reading, I started to figure things out as far as how to eat properly and progress in the weight room. At that point, I didn't care about what other people were doing in the gym. I cared about improving myself and I fell in love with the whole lifestyle that is required to achieve success in getting bigger and stronger. Some would say I am pretty obsessed with it. They are probably right, but why go through life without loving anything at all?

I began competing in powerlifting in October 2008 in the USAPL federation, which I absolutely love. I aspire to become a top ranked national and international raw powerlifter. If any of you are thinking about powerlifting, I highly suggest giving it a try. There is just something about getting under that bar and owning it.
