My name is Alicia Marie, also known as The Cardio Girl! I have been writing about fitness and nutrition for a long, long time and it's no secret that I'm quite, er, energetic about the stuff that gets your heart pumping! I always knew where my life would lead me after I caught a glimpse of Wonder Woman in a random DC Comics issue at the age of 8.

I started competing in fitness competitions in 2002. Fast forward a few years, and I am now an IFBB Figure Pro, a model and a writer for Oxygen Magazine's "Ask Alicia." I just released my first fitness book, The Booty Bible.

What is Cardio World?

Cardio World is what happens when you combine the brain of a fitness model/writer whose singular objective is to save the planet by teaching earthlings to be more healthy and fit with the mind of an imaginative producer named Todd Roy who agrees to aid in spreading her positive "message" one YouTube upload at a time. (Even though T-Roy has some gnawing suspicions about exactly who or what is ultimately delivering that message.)

Cardio World comes to you in the form of 12 Factual and Easy-to-Follow videos based from questions I received on Twitter and Facebook. They're full of advice made simple, funny and sometimes a little … weird? Yuuup!

The videos cover the Big Three: cardio, weightlifting and nutrition. Cardio, the oh-so-affectionate nickname for cardiovascular exercise, burns off excess calories and fat. Resistance training, or weightlifting, builds muscle for that tight, toned look. Nutrition supports fat burn and muscle building. You need all three in equal portions to create your best body.

Todd, the dude in the videos, is a regular, smart guy who really wants to get into crazy shape, but somehow his efforts always seem to get stymied by life events. Everyday things get in the way of his ability to truly "do it," Bodybuilding.com style. (Does that sound familiar to anyone?) Here's to hoping his work in Cardio World helps him sort his priorities!
