I met Jessica Paxson backstage at the 2006 Body Rock and was immensely impressed with her beautiful, fit look and sparking personality. 2006 will be Jessica's Olympia Figure stage debut! Congratulations Jessica!
[ Jessica Paxson ] I can't believe it is almost here! I am really excited and nervous all rolled into one. I have a lot of new emotions I am experiencing since the Olympia weekend is also my wedding weekend! I will be married Sunday Oct.1 2006. The day after I compete in the Olympia! My fiancé is USA light-heavy runner up, Peter Putnam and this really adds to the excitement of competing in my first Olympia! I truly feel blessed!
[ JP ] I have been an NPC competitor for a little over 2 years. I have been going to the gym since my senior year in high school (2001), but I really started training at the age of 21 when I decided to compete. I was a competitive gymnast; I danced in a dance company, cheered, and was on a competition cheerleading squad. I turned pro at the 2005 Jr. Nationals by winning first place in the C class.
[ JP ] I am not doing anything different. I wouldn't feel comfortable making drastic changes to my preparation for a show as big as the Olympia.
[ JP ] I train with Mike Davies and he usually has me training one body part a day with a lot of supersets and plyometrics when I am training for a show so this will stay the same. My cardio sessions are usually 5 mornings a week and 4 nights a week. I try not to do anything very strenuous (i.e. running) because I don't have a lot of muscle in my legs and I don't want to lose what little I have while getting ready for this show. I think my best body part is my shoulders!
[ JP ] I usually eat 6-8 meals consisting mostly of chicken, tilapia, tuna, egg whites, protein powder, cream of rice, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and asparagus. ABB/Optimum Nutrition sponsors me and I use their 100% whey protein, 2-3 tablespoons of glutamine a day, women's multi-vitamin, and thermo cut extreme.
[ JP ] I use the tanning bed to get a base tan, but I am trying to get away from doing that because it is so hard on the skin. I use Jan Tana for my competition tan.
[ JP ] I am inspired by all of the women that compete. The dedication and discipline it takes to compete is amazing. The women who have children that compete especially inspire me. How do they do it?!! Of course I couldn't even dream of doing what I do without my faith in Christ. I can do all things through Him!
