[ Q ] When did you start working out, and what mistakes did you make at first?
I started working out soon after I graduated high school in 2000 but didn't get
serious until 2008 after the birth of my son.
Form and going into the
gym without a game plan were probably my biggest mistakes.
I hurt my knee and lower back often which could have been easily avoided if I
practiced good form.

I was known as a gym rat to my friends but I
never achieved the physique I wanted till I devised a workout routine
for myself and started seeing results.
[ Q ] Did you exercise at all while you were pregnant?
I did, but very little of it. I probably exercised 2 days - doing light
cardio - out of the week because I was just tired most of the time. If
I exercised more I wouldn't have gained so much unnecessary weight
during my pregnancy.

[ Q ] How long did you wait after you had your baby to start getting back in shape?
I probably waited 2 months; basically after I got the OK from my
doctor after my checkup.
[ Q ] What are those women saying to you now that you got into amazing shape,
after they said you probably won't be very fit again after having
a baby?
I've gotten a lot of compliments everywhere I go, even from strangers.
The most popular ones I hear from my friends are "You look better
than you did before you were pregnant", or "You are probably in the
best shape in your life" and "You don't even look like you ever had a
baby."
Oh, it's funny. Now they are asking me for advice with what I'm
eating, supplements, routines and how to target certain body parts.

[ Q ] What is a typical day like for you in managing baby care, workouts,
eating, etc?
Having a husband who constantly travels for international business 4
days out of a week can be difficult at times when raising a newborn.
We also have a home office for our e-business which is pretty
convenient, it allows me to stay at home and still work at the same
time.
My day normally starts off at 7:00 AM taking care of the little one,
checking emails, replying, returning calls, and following up with
clients.
I'm normally running errands all day long depending on the
circumstances or at home studying for an upcoming exam for a certain
license for the business, so I try to prepare my meals the night
before.

Long Depending On The Circumstances.
I make big portions so I can split them throughout my day and I
programmed my phone to remind me it's time to eat every 2 hours which
helps tremendously on hectic days.
When I'm the road I just stop at a subway and order a 6-inch or buy a protein bar if I can't prepare it
myself.
Despite all this the only time my son is with a baby sitter
would be at 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM and where you will find me at the gym hitting it
hard.
I normally focus on weight training since I'm running around all
day long burning calories as I go.

Once I'm done with the gym it doesn't stop there... I have to get the house ready and the baby to bed
which often can be a workout on its own.
[ Q ] What is the best advice about fitness you could give somebody who is pregnant?
Before you begin exercising, remember that it is important to talk to
your doctor. Wear shoes that have good support and are not slippery,
so you won't fall.
Breathe deeply, drink a lot of water and focus on
why your working out: "To stay healthy for the baby and not lose weight."

[ Q ] Do you have any future plans in fitness?
I do. In fact, I'm in the process of preparing for my first show in
October (the bikini division). If all goes well I plan to attend the Olympia
in Las Vegas to network and meet others who are also passionately
involved in fitness.
So all you SoCal locals come show your support.
I'm excited to see how far my passion for fitness will take me.

[ Q ] What is the best piece of advice you ever received in life?
"People with less do more."
[ Q ] How have you been managing to eat right in a world full of
tempting treats everywhere?
I set aside a cheat meal once a week. I like to indulge at
Yogurtland, an all you can eat yogurt parlor with unlimited
different flavored yogurts and unlimited toppings... it's heaven! I didn't
know you could consider that a meal.

[ Q ] Are any other moms, friends, or family that you know of who are trying
to get in better shape now that they have seen your success?
Oh yes, definitely. I try to stress the importance of clean eating, so
whenever we're out dining, I set an example by ordering something
healthy on the menu and normally they would follow.
I'm also really active on my Facebook, always having something fitness related on my
status, and just recently I'm seeing a lot of my friends posting
"they're going to the gym, taking up some type of sport etc." I'm not
going to take full credit but I like to tell myself I play a part.

[ Q ] If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Oh my... I would go to Bora Bora Island; it looks like paradise on the postcards.
