Iron Man Magazine's
BodySpace Physique Of The Month: ChenSteve
In high school, he just wanted to be "cool" and not be stereotypically "skinny"! So Steve Chen joined the football team and started lifting weights. Ultimately he dropped football, but at 18 years old he joined a real gym and was on his way. Somewhat learning things from other trainers, Steve found out that there was a lot of great information in magazines such as Iron Man and became a self-described gym rat. Even when he went on to U.C. Santa Barbara and U.C.L.A. to get his B.S. in Marine Biology he took weight lifting classes.
Steve worked at various jobs along the way and credits the gym for keeping him out of trouble as a kid and growing up. It was his outlet in life for a better way of doing things, a lifestyle of health and fitness. Interestingly, Marine Biology turned out to not be his real calling, at least at the moment. But he did take to the seas working for a cruise ship company and for some time now for a cruise ship tour company. Those jobs have taken him on almost 30 cruises and he says the ships have some really nice gyms!
So along the way he has seen Barcelona, Croatia, Ipeta, Nice, Cannes, Mykonos, London, St. Thomas, Haiti, Seattle, Hawaii, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Bangkok, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Florida, New York and Tahiti, among those he could name off the top of his head. I would say that is pretty cool! A great way to go to the gym!
And in there somewhere, Steve found BodyBuilding.com as he was searching to buy supplements "cheaper". That quickly took him to BodySpace where he found "like minded people focused on what he likes to do", "People who are inspirational". He found that he could ask questions and get good answers and found people who are serious about their workouts.
He has learned more about nutrition and found BodyBuilding.com as the right resource for buying all the protein powder he goes through! Steve eats a lot of food to keep packing on muscle and indeed he is not the skinny kid he was worried about in high school.
So go on over to BodySpace, and look for"ChenSteve", See what he is up to and ask him about his travels and his other favorite sport, Scuba Diving. It is good to get out and do more than just lift in the gym and the results show on Steve for sure!
